Thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice. So after much internal debate, I ended up ordering a Motohara (L6 in "General purpose geometry"). The ordering process was smooth so far and I'm excited to get my hands on the sword in about 8 weeks. I'll post when I receive it. This is going to be feel like a long wait (although it's actually pretty fast). Best choice you could have made.

+1 good choice on the Motohara. For your requirements and budget, nothing else would be a better match.

I wish i had that kind of money to throw at a sword. It would be my choice at that budget, all their swords feel unique .

Citadel doesnt compare to evolution blades, in my opinion.
Quality and attention to detail wise, motohara is best at this prices.

Citadel makes great swords, that is true. The Motohara I've seen, the detail of the fittings, the fit and finish, tsuka shaping and profile, tsukamaki, end knots,blade/saya fit, etc. is better imo.The blades, for each purpose, have shown to be pretty amazing thru all of the testing which has been done by JSA people.Theres a very good reason many of these guys are putting away their MAS and Kotetsu in favor of these swords. The koshirae is all extremely well done. And then you have several options available to each sword.

I'm sold on these. Just need to save up for one. Hearing comments that they dwarf even Citadel has me absolutely intrigued, given how I thought Motohara's tsuka looked much better done and comfy. Still need to nab that back-up Hanwei Orchid first, though. Motohara's up next.

Does Motohara have its own website? They do business through their Facebook page "Evolution Blades". Lots of pictures up there and a couple in stock offerings from time to time. For my custom order everything was done through messenger and email.
