As you can see, I have several Windlass blades in my collection. I like most of them. Like we said many times, its hit or a miss with them. Sometime quality control is not there. If I have to chose only one from this list i will say The Viking King Sword. I love everything on this sword, minus maybe this leather fourniture on the grip. The size of the guard and pommel are amazing as well as the blade. Its a very light sword. The scabbard look stunning. I can comment on any of my windlass blades if you need help. See list below Sword of Ibelin Viking Shield Gondorian Bracers Powder Horn Sword of Robin Hood Godfrey Sword Ulfberht Viking Sword Spartacus Arena Swords Sword of St.Maurice Accolade Sword of the Knight Templars Spartacus Helmet Gladiator Arena Sword Sica Arena Blacksword Short Celtic Sword Migration Period Sword General Maximus Sword Leuterit Sword Viking King Sword Wooden Gladius Frank Miller's Spartan Sword Themistokles Sword Classic Hoplite Sword Historical Thor's Hammer Sticklestad Viking Sword English Warhammer Conan Father's Sword Pendragon Sword / King John Sword of Odo Suontaka Viking Sword Ancient Thor's Hammer Beowulf Sword Maldon Viking Sword Marquise Boarding Axe Roman Pugio Dagger Elven Battle Sword Dragon Hunter Fantasy Axe Sword of Reynald Sword of Valeria Homildon Hill Sword Maldon Viking Seax Ringmere Axe Tigris of Gaul Sword Sword of Tiberias Eagle of Rome Gladius Long Runic Seax Santa Calista Sword Persian Scimitar / Shamshir Saladin Sword Orc Fantasy Axe Centurion Gladius Jambiya Curved Knife Prince Valiant Singning Sword Assam Kukri Assassin's Kukri Acre Broadsword Bosworth Sword Pirate Cutlass The Conqueror Sword Raven Claw Fighting Knife Fiore War Hammer Thulsa Doom Snake Dagger Viking Throwing Axe Ulrich Sword Viking Transitional Sword Viking Seax St.Michaels Falchion Bec-de-Corbin Poleaxe Fisted War Hammer Fantasy Excalibur Sword Francesca Axe Medieval Huntsman Axe King Richard Sword Spanish Falcata Locksley Sword Spanish Falchion Executioner Axe of Justice Celtic Battle Sword Durandal the Sword of Roland English Hunting Knife Battlecry Centurion Gladius Ashdown Viking Sword Celtic Dagger Dark Elf Battle Ready Dagger Maciejowski Crusader Chopper Gurkha Kukri - Officer's Sword of Guy Golden Coast Cutlass Spartan Lakonian Roman Gladius Maintz Pattern Roman Pompeii Gladius Early Scottish Dirk Warbrand Sword Musketeer Rapier Gigantic Ceremonial Kukri Damascus Viking Sword Mercenary Schiavona Leif Erikson Viking Sword Twisted Iron Bodice Dagger Boarding Damascus Knife Primitive Bowie Knife German War Hammer Oakeshott Type XVIII Sword The Sword of Robert the Bruce Hallstat Celtic Sword Faithkeeper sword Primitive Scottish Dirk Crusader Axe Bannockburn Sword King Richard Sword (from Robin Hood) Historical Excalibur Iron Age Sword Tigris of Gaul Axe Robin Hood Movie Axe Robin Hood Movie Slasher Leif Eriksson Commemorative Sword (Damascus) Holbein Dagger De Joinville Sword Russian Kindjal Chateauneuf-de-Randon Sword The Sword of Baldur Just Updated my List :)

Impressive list. I didn’t own any Windlass swords when this thread was new, but now that it has been resurrected, I have acquired one! It may be my favorite by default (since I own only one), but I like it quite a lot on its own merits: Frazetta’s Death Dealer’s sword. www.museumreplicas.com/death-dealer-collectors-edition-swordI always thought the model looked cool. I picked one up on super clearance sale when they were discontinued. It’s a surprisingly nice sword, especially considering it is appropriately oversized for an antediluvian slayer.

Still retribution from the Brent weeks book series for me, loved it when I was younger and was surprised a replica was even made

My relative new Avalon is my best Windlass. Not too fantasyesque and a lively blade due to the strong profile taper.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Gotta ask... as Groucho Marx would say, "Why a duck?" I can understand a hawk or bird of prey, but waterfowl reminiscent of Mother Goose? Yes they can be aggressive, but they are also tasty around the holidays. Was the blacksmith chased by geese as a child?!?

Its probably a duck which identifies as a hawk! ... or had a beak accident with a glass door.
I'm tempted because it's available in Germany for 150 Eurons itm, but I just got my Hanwei Charlemagne saber. And it's too heavy.

I really liked my Raptor. Great feel. Looked cool. Fit and finish, well, that can vary from what I read. Mine had a peen done by a monkey on LSD

Gotta ask... as Groucho Marx would say, "Why a duck?" …
I think it is intended to be a cormorant. As to why, and whether it is befitting a barbarian slayer, one would have to ask the original artist or look to his art. I’m not really a Frazetta fan, so I don’t know whether the shape had some significance or he just thought it looked good in a painting. The sword itself is surprisingly well constructed considering it is basically a novelty item. Balance is not terrible, and the blade even sports some distal taper. It is undeniably heavy, especially for an average sized guy like me. Perhaps those of heroic stature would find it suited to their needs? It handles about like my Del Tin 10th C. Viking, which weighs about the same. So, a bit much, but nothing like, say, an antediluvian sword from the Conan series. I suppose Crom would laugh at this dainty wisp of a blade.

My relative new Avalon is my best Windlass. Not too fantasyesque and a lively blade due to the strong profile taper. I just got one of these. It was on sale at outfit4events for €182. I’ve wanted a XV for ages and I finally stumped up for this one. I don’t mind the type L pommel. It’s rare but is depicted in art so it’s not ridiculously ahistorical. The blade is good and stiff and the weight is spot on. The lack of distal taper is balanced by the really aggressive profile taper. The blade on mine is 29.5 inches/75cm, so half an inch shorter than listed. Not that it matters hugely.

Of the Windlass swords I own, I'll put the Christus Imperat rapier at the top of the list.

Simple question, but difficult to answer. I have more Windlasses than from other makers. I like the Type XIV, but if I had to cut back to only one it would probably be the Battlecry Agincourt. But the more I think of the XIV...

The Agincourt was the second "real" sword I ever got, the first being the DSA Excalibur. So imagine my surprise when I discovered swords didn't have to be off balance blade heavy crowbars. It really redirected my search into lighter more balanced weapons.

My favourite is the classic bastard sword (current gen)
...
It's my ONLY sword. This opinion might not be scientificaly unbiased.
