I did instantly go to left hand revolver to my saber as well. It is a very natural combination to a the mounted soldier.
But staying melee, I'm in the saber/buckler camp. I've done a little bit of practice with the two and find it works quite well. Normal saber technique is about blocking everything with your blade but if you can block with the shield, it makes going to the attack faster. At least it seems to me. Using a wee bit of bastard/longsword technique (especially some of the guards) also makes an interesting way to change up the usual expectations with the western military saber.

On the battle field: Spear & shield, axe & shield, and sword & shield. With secondary weapons being sword & buckler and sword & dagger.
Civilian, EDC: Sword & buckler, sword & dagger, with sword & shield(Highlanders main fighting style was sword and targe)
Honorable mention that wasn't really documented. For battle or civilian: sword & hand axe/hawk, mace, or war hammer.
Dense forest: hawk & dagger shorter styles swords & dagger, hawk/hand axe, mace, war hammer, and buckler, and hawk & buckler

A longer and a shorter weapon seems to be a usual choice. In my unskilled hands it also feels better. Two sabers? Interesting thought but not much lore about it afaik. Two weapons of equal length tend to be a bad idea. It's really easy to tangle yourself up. Marsden had some good points about what does and doesn't work with dual wielding here. I really, really, really have always disagreed with Marsden's views in this video. Practicing with dual wielding daily, it's really natural and if you get tangled up odds are it's due to not being familiar with body mechanics and how to use two weapons at once.
Your arms are the same length and you don't get them tangled up when engaged in hand to hand combat so study is what's required.
Allowing your weapons to 'unionize' (boy doesn't that sound political?) facilitates some very effective parries, binds and blocks

But to actually post an original thought now,
katana and katana...of course, or katana and wakizashi for conventionality
rapier and main gauche is just cheating
...rapier and sabre, perhaps? Bad day and übel nacht?
Or perhaps a p90 and a machete for a Danny Trejo day out

Assuming you don't have to worry about incoming arrows, something like is good as a left-hand defensive weapon with plenty of offensive potential. Sometimes, these have a blade on the knucklebow. Just partner it with whatever one-handed sword you like. To keep up the Indian theme, a candidate partner sword: More details on this sword at www.rct.uk/collection/11421/sword-and-scabbard

Personally id go with a sidesword and rotella. Gotta love that defensive capability.
Though if my off hand had to be a bladed weapon of some sort i might choose a long parrying dagger or shorter sword as i find a shorter weapon in the off hand easier to operate and coordinate.

Sword and dagger are good in confined spaces, if facing multiple aggressive opponents. Indoors, of course shields are better vs. projectiles etc. and fewer resp. less aggressive or pressing opponents.
Center-gripped shields are good for defensive actions, strapped shields are better for offense – also depending on shape/size (very generalized, lol).
Axes/maces/clubs if you need stopping power, knives/daggers to deterrent from closing and finishing off. Attachments:

Why dagger "or" buckler? ... and I don't want to get a jab with the crossguard into the face. ... ooor a hammer instead of the dagger blade?
