Here's a question I'm gonna ask everyone. Out of all of the brands that currently make reproduction katanas. Which are the highest end production brands that closely resemble real nihonto? If you would rank them in order in your opinion. i find it amusing you ask this question and honestly just prior linked the website for the production company _I_ believe gets the closest. Now I’m not talking high end tamahagane customs or even ridiculously high end makers like Raw or Clark. But production? Kaneie wins. IMO opinion. Why? Their geometries and attention to proper hamon enrichment through BOTH acid for whitening AND nugui for darkening the ji. Their kissaki are expertly executed. Now second place? That is where it gets really muddy for production. I’d say maybe the higher end Hanwei/Chens? Ronin elites I’d say are third... tho their jigane needs a lot of work and their hamon polish is almost a weird reverse. I know not what mystery maker treeslicer mentions but yeah. Would love to know too, dude. Hehe. I thought Kaneie uses traditional Japanese polishing techniques? What about Skyjiro?

there's a reason I didn't link the Yamato series. I knew you were gonna droll all over your keyboard and yeah. I already knew about this line but you “reminded” me. 🤤

oh and forgot about dynasty forge. I was told to stay away from Skyjiro and I was wondering why, their blades seem nicely done

I thought Kaneie uses traditional Japanese polishing techniques? What about Skyjiro? Their lower end lines are still acid enhanced I think. Mino and Yamato lines may very well be. Can’t weigh in on skyjiro as I refuse to weigh in on blades I have not personally held in hand and seen (if not owned).

a little update. Decided to fork some funds over to purchase a sword from Kaneie based off the reviews I've read and the things people told me. I had to fork over some more money to purchase this from Samurai Workshop but no idea if they are even processing orders anymore so that is TBD. www.thesamuraiworkshop.com/EN/catalogue/swords/gokui-collection/nami-ginkyo-tameshigiri-katana/shop_mode=product_detail&product_id=614 Reason being is for some reason Kaneie's main site k sword . jp isn't shipping orders overseas and only China?? Couldn't get an order through on their site as the only country showing up for shipment method is China and theres like a lack of info on their site

Just sayin'.

Don’t listen to him, voidec 😂😂😂😂 Lol. All kidding aside I think what treeslicer is saying is that be careful spending tons of money before you know even what you like. Personally, I think Kaneie is a pretty safe bet on a sword. But treeslicer has a valid point
