I believe what you're looking for is a bullwhip. Googling with, for example, the words "bullwhip" and "price" will yield some results, although from what I've found in the past, a good bullwhip will equal (and surpass) the price of an entry-level sword. Here's a couple of places to get you started (well, the other one's in Australia, but it has some nice info): www.midwestwhips.com/Bullwhip.htmlwww.aussiewhipmaker.com/

There ain't nothing humble about a kangaroo hide whip I can tell you that much, they can cut flesh like a razor blade with the right technique and yes full contact whip fighting is hardcore. Thanks for the link mate, I might actually have to consider one of these, I love whips as they are one of my favourite weapons.
There is a reason that most stockies in america and australia are using kangaroo hide whips.

The msot effective and high quality whips are a 5 foot 8 plait kangaroo hide stock whips, depending on your strength and your skill and height of course.

How skilled are you with a whip, sword? 8' - 10' needs alot of upper body strength and a great deal of skill to crack a whip of that length. Although good kangaroo whips of that length are anywhere from $300 to $500.

Not good enough for an 8'-10' kangaroo hide whip then mate You lash yourself even once with one of those and you are going to really know about it. You have to understand that a whip tip is travelling at roughly 1400 FPS when it is cracked, then you have to take into account that kangaroo hide whips are bloody viciously, you can stripe cattle to the point of drawing blood with one, imagine what it would do to human flesh.

So what's more effective as a weapon, a bullwhip or a stock whip?
I even have a full-length, winter weight Drizabone and Akubra to go with it, heh.

Hmm they are pretty much the same although I find the bullwhip more concealable but the stock whip is easier to crack because you've got better control due to the main shaft of the whip being longer.

Ok sword what are you looking to do with it? Yes there are different whips for different purposes. Are you looking for the best whips or are you looking for something mediocre?

Well the aussie whip makers kangaroo hide 8 foot 12 plait is $373 but is a whip that you will be able to hand down to children and grandchildren. I want to buy one of about that length.
