So good news i guess... Jacky send me a message (finally) so at least huawei is still alive. Seems the customs is doing something weird there. Unfortunately no explanations why they don't answer messages. Message below.
"Hi Friend, i am sorry kept you waiting. the sword parts is ready for mounting.but Now there's a problem, the Shanghai customs security upgrade, the sword cannot be shipped to Finland. the post office actively communicating with Shanghai customs.Hope to get back to normal soon.
Best Regards jacky

I have a friend in Taiwan who had problems with a USA sporting goods seller not wanting to ship to Taiwan. I owed him a favor so dealer shipped to me and I shipped to Taiwan. Worked then. No idea if idea still would work. Two shippings cost then double and double shipping damage risk... RinC

I was about to get the "hanway scallop" but stumbled upon that hamon and had to have it. Good choice for a first sword?

Almost feel the need to joke "hanway or the huawei" with regards to production swords, but I'll let it rest. That sword looks awesome, definitely a great choice for a sword, let alone your first. Congrats and looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

Too nice for a first sword. Your heart will break when you ding or scratch it. Hurry and get a $200 DH beater. :-) RinC

"We don't know exactly why i hope can send the sword later.please be patient! we can only ship the swords to USA,UK,Canada,Austrlia,France,Germany.Italy, VIA hangzhou csustoms and Whenzhou customs. Best Regards jacky"

robert, can you tell us if your custom katana is highly customized blade or just the accessories? mine is kind of out of the norm in that i asked for a shallow sori, relative to huawei's deeper sori. i orderd mine in mid july but am still waiting. i think LH ordered his around the same time.
i'm guessing that highly customized blades are put on the back burner, whereas simpler custom orders are addressed first by jacky's swordsmith in longquan.

Are you guys pre paying for these orders? yes, jacky requires i pay full amount when i ordered the custom. perhaps this is why robert's custom hasn't been addressed yet? i'm going on 4 month this week.

Happy news...I got a message from Jackie. Not a date on when my sword will be done, but a confirmation of my order. Which is all I really expected....I can wait since I imagine my custom is hardly the only custom order she has going. Got to admit though, that Sinosword tamahaganae (they had one for $600usa which gives me a ball park price estimate) was appealing to the traditional, collector in me...and Sinosword said they could make the hamon steel of the tamahaganae as hard/tough as the hamon steel of their T10's. So Sinosword does seem like a reasonable 2nd choice for custom swords for those who don't have the RinC

I actually paid half of the custom order. Seems like what Jacky asks depends on their financial situation.

I told him/her I also have friends who are very worried about their order. I never mentioned any names but it might have helped a tiny bit. Probably just answered all emails at the same time. Not really sure what to do with my order though. Maybe I should ask my money back and offer to buy the sword when they can ship to Finland. They would probably sell the sword to someone else. Pretty annoying...
