man I loved the elric novels. I do remember someone made a licenced repo of it. I forgot who, but I remember there is an official version too, a normal and a very long version from same company. Very expensive, 4 digits!

For my taste a bit too squiggly (and too heavy, but you'll get the right Elric feeling this way).

I tend to agree it sounds a bit bulky. Here's my take on Stormbringer. It's a living blade--a demonic entity. To me that suggests the blade needs to feel balanced, fast and able to move seemingly on its own. How it looks is almost secondary.
I've handled a few blades that I had to put down because they felt too dangerous. I would imagine Stormbringer to be like that only much more intensely.

I also think strombringer shouldn't be too heavy, it only needs to be tough enough to parry an attack but doesn't need to cut deep, it drinks soul from any wound..... I would like to about able to be cut mat tho...

I thought Stormbringer was too heavy for Elric without demonic fuel or speedherbs. Of course with that stuff...

You maybe right, i read the series way back, before I started Iaido and collecting swords...
The Raven Arms storm bringer is 48 in, my future order is pretty much the same once I have welded the tang extension and ring pommel on, but the guard will be further forward and I am hoping to keep it just under 4 lbs, that I can just use, 6lb is way too heavy.

So I may stay with the ring pommel after all, finished up a large one from M12 eye bolt with 35mm collar (I found a steel tube of the right size so the copper one will be replaced later) and a semi finished one from a M10 eye bolt with a 30mm collar in case I want a more tapered handle. I intentionally left them a bit rough as I intend the fittings to look "raw". Also made a fuchi for it, I dug up a junk iron fuchi and filed off the very bad looking dragon to give it a plain look. May change my mind later, the ring pommels I can use for another project anyway. Still haven't decided the handguard yet, at the moment I favor a simple S guard, easily made from a 5 x 30mm steel bar and look plain and raw. But I am also looking at a disc guard (not tsuba, chinese dao style with a wall around the edge), actually ordered a cheap 90mm hole saw on ebay, should be easy to just anneal it, grind the steel teeth off and cut a slot for the tang. My other two sword orders have just been posted, so if they look as good as I hope, I will go back to seller for the storm bringer build.

If I were to commission (or make) a custom Stormbringer, the blade I would go for is an Oakeshott Type XVIIIc (like Albion's Principe and Alexandria). I've seen plenty of art depicting Stormbringer as a warsword of this style, and Stormbringer needs to be a powerful cutting blade.

Small technically difficulty, the seller who I was going with is no longer a viable option. Lets just say I received a sword he built today and decided that it would be unwise to deal with him again........
I could easily get another gig to do a blade up but it will be hard to find a seller that does custom etching for the "strange runes"
Maybe I should learn to etch.....

I'd go to Wes Beem or Lyndle Driggers for this. Elric deserves a badass blade.

This is more back toward the Euro end of Stormbringer interpretations, but a CS LaFontaine would be a good budget option, then adding one's own etched or engraved runes. kultofathena.com/images/CS88WSLFM_2_l.jpg

It is back on! I wrote to seller about my displeasure with the last order, he saw the pics I sent and promptly admitted it was his fault for overlooking and a refund. I even got to keep the sword. Honest enough bloke to deal with so I will give him a second chance

Next time you should order it with the "demon inside"-option!

I remember now it was some of Angus Trim's blades I had to set down because they scared me a little bit. Superbly balanced with perfect responsiveness. It reminded me of some high-end firearms I've handled that have very light triggers that make me nervous.

I'm really tempted to order a CS MAA Italian Longsword due to this thread!

You bad bad men! Now I also want an European sword, not for this project, just one for fun. I had a Ww1 Bavarian dress sword which is not functional and still have my USSR WW2 saber but I want double edge
