James Curry takes production swords and works the blades and/or fittings. Almost everything he does is a hex nut assembly. He will also redo grips and swap around hits on different swords. Not an actual smith to my knowledge. he also makes wood core leather wrapped scabbards for a pretty good price i think

Still new to Nihonto so forgive anything I am missing but this seems like a great price on a certified katana. I think the school is not "famous" and the late Muromachi period from what I gather is not exactly a rare sword. Anyways, throwing it out there, as I was looking at it: link

Not Ebay but I'm glad the thread was pushed up so I can shout "SHARK!!!!!!" Save me from a possible sin and someone fight tooth and nail for LOT #40496 www.ha.com/ Auction #6177 A nice looking Ames US m1906 As much as I should not broadcast it, someone in the extended family really needs this one. Draw straws or something, no reason to drive it up past reality. Don't forget a buyers premium of 25%. There are some other interesting lots as well but already a fair amount of interest in them. Right now, the 1906 seems to have been ignored.

Not eBay but.... I know a lot of the Japanese sword lovers here think about nihonto. All I can say is, DON'T! It's complicated, expensive to get into then hard to get out of. I don't want to expound anymore on that, but it's an interesting passion. I do love it so. Anyway, eBay can be a gamble at best but I think one of the better sellers for nihonto has a sword now (I think so, have no inquired) that's affordable and not bad. Great study piece and won't kill the bank account. Full Disclosure: I have not requested live pics of this sword; there is some kind of blemish on left side of blade near the far end. Buyer beware: www.aoijapan.com/katana-sansyu-jyu-tsutsui-kiyokane-sakusyowa-20th-2-gatsu-hi
