Pretty nifty welds for being made in the 1800s. Classy payment method requirements, too.

A late 18th century Francis Thurkle sabre. A good starter for someone entering the antique pool. Needs a bit of TLC but an uncommon find. www.ebay.com/itm/203677463550

Less than three hours left on the two museum lines, the Spadona is still at MSRP and the Ljubljana a bit above. I'd love to have the Spadona but I'm just not ready to spend that much on one piece. Personally I'd rather get two NG swords for the same price since pretty much the only difference is that they aren't exact replicas of a specific piece. I've still been drooling over it and considering placing a bid, but I keep stopping myself haha. For some reason the Knud isn't showing in search results anymore, but I can still see it since I saved it as soon as it popped up. The BIN is about $500 more than MSRP, if it wasn't I probably would have bought it the day it was listed because I sure love that blue hilt!

The Brescia Spadona and Ljubljana ended up going for about $300 over MSRP when the auction ended. Not too bad.
It looks like the person who bought the Spadona just wanted to scalp it. There is now a Brescia Spadona with only BIN at $650 over MSRP ($2800). This is the same person who currently has a Knud with only BIN at $500 over MSRP ($1550). I'm not 100% sure it's the same person who bought the previous Spadona, but it seems too big of a coincidence that it popped up for sale as soon as the one previously purchased would have arrived. Also, in the description of the Knud, they flat out say that they're just trying to make money off of somebody who doesn't want to wait a year.
Fair enough, and I can certainly see paying over MSRP to avoid the wait. It just kind of turns my stomach that somebody is intentionally and blatantly trying to take advantage of our community by doing stuff like that. I know it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay. Basic supply and demand. It just feels wrong that they outbid somebody who would have appreciated it and inflated it's price. I'm honestly surprised that they aren't selling PS5/XBOX Series X/RTX 3080 video cards too, but it looks like the rest of their items are taxidermy.
I kind of hope that it doesn't sell and they take a loss on it, but that's probably just my spite talking. Such a desirable piece may end up selling for that price if it sits long enough.
Again, I know they're not doing anything "wrong", but it is certainly a moral grey area. I feel bad for whoever got outbid by a scalper.

So I've been lurking for a restorable Cattaragus 225Q (knife) WTH is up with bidding? Is it now an EBay staple for item posters to post bots to automatically in crease the price? There is NO way these are actually selling for the prices I'm seeing. AM I crazy?

On top of everything else, they've been forcing sellers towards Buy It Nows, which is lousy for collectibles.

1. Pricing on most WWII knives has continued to rise and while the 225 could have often been found under $100 in fine condition, it has been half a dozen years since the glory days for them.
2. Schill accounts. While ebay frowns on it, it is not unusual for someone illicit a spouse or other ip account to create their own reserve system (instead of using the ebay system). This is where shadow sniping programs (encouraged by ebay) can avoid a bid limit that is unseen by others and most particularly the sellers themselves.
3. Covid and greed have driven a mad frenzy of sellers doubling and tripling asking prices. Hoping to cash in on those federal bonuses and a general lack of supply has driven a market wild. I have started to see a turn around on the market off ebay but I'm afraid it is going to take some time for the supply to bring prices back down. It is not just military knives and swords that has seen this recent jump.

A German made artillery glaive at a so so price. Mimicking the French 1816 and US 1832, these Weyersburg bladed examples have been found as imports through Horstmann and other retailers. www.ebay.com/itm/353362855773

Thanks karmasoft for letting everyone know about it. 🤬 Just kidding. Am watching it but not going to bid on. It is a great starting price. Like you I checked sale record (always do) and saw that.
