Watch out on that seller. Never bought from them, but $49 for shipping that sword? They had an older Windlas estoc earlier in the week, and shipping was $100. Ridiculous.

Mateus is one of the best up and coming swordsmiths. His work has drastically improved just this year. See Patrick Kelly's review of his Type XIV. Also, his Munich are just mind-boggling.

Why do you tempt me wherever I go D: The 1822 you linked to was bought, I presume you or your brother picked it up? ;) www.ebay.ca/itm/142157516818?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITHere is another. 22h left and sitting at 390 usd. This is a German manufacture between 1862 and 1883 based on the markings (WRC vs WKC). Appears to have Persian text, which is consistent with the seller's hypothesis that this served in France's Middle East colonies. The date of manufacture predates the Post WWI French mandate in Syria, but nothing to say that this blade was re-issued later in life. Interesting piece. Not 100% sure of its story, but its likely an interesting one

I have lots of swords on my watchlist (just a few hours ago there was a sabre without a grip listed as a 1796 LC (looked more like a Blucher or the smaller artillery variants) for $150. The repair was just too time consuming but it was a good price. Also there was a Hanwei Holden Oriole that went for around $220 (wasn't very interested) and the DT 2147 went for less than $200. Lots of great bargains on ebay but ultimately, I haven't tested the waters for fear of getting burned.

My current watch list. The operative word there is "watch". I was bad last month and adopted another eagle. I haven't checked my saved searches in a few days but here is some stuff I found interesting, for value or market research. Some relative bargains out there. A nice hirschfanger www.ebay.com/itm/252573265715?An interesting 18th century sword being bid up www.ebay.com/itm/232128865814?win the lottery and pay Pierre www.ebay.com/itm/401025859881?A bargain WWII rarity going cheap (I have several of these knives) www.ebay.com/itm/112187982691?A battered eagle Being ignored? I know this particular sword and it previously sold while listed at $400 Relic or project but nice blade(but trimmed) &scabbard www.ebay.com/itm/232126943644?OK, I won't list the premium +$1500 swords but there are yet more less expensive swords I watch Brit ish cavalry types www.ebay.com/itm/361768807634?www.ebay.com/itm/262674418910?But what about $3500 swords? www.ebay.com/itm/262531153238?Ok, too many expensive swords to list but I watch them to archive images. There is an inflated $7000 eagle I would be ok with adopting but it's hardly a realistic debt. Another nice hunting sword www.ebay.com/itm/272354119765?A Starr 1818 short guy. I have one complete with frog. This one listed at a reasonable price but offer at a third less and haggle if interested. These are neat and somewhat uncommon swords. www.ebay.com/itm/291923734486?I am quite fond of mine A very nice etched militia type at a dandy price with a scabbard. www.ebay.com/itm/162262589752?A couple of more oldies lurking at best offer range. I hate to spend guitar money on more swords. I picked up my twelve string the other day to prep for sale and I'm feeling like I just can't do it. It's an old Japanese 1960s electric with fantastic handling. Two acoustics to sell off as well. After that probably some modern made swords, as I need to scale down a bit. There are at least two or three guitars I'll die with. So anyway, these need a happy home and I can't afford to bring them here www.ebay.com/itm/232105300718?www.ebay.com/itm/331992158519?I have several more premium swords but really, they aren't in the spirit of the more budget minded. As mentioned, I watch them for market trends and to archive eagle pommel swords. Happy hunting
