Been searching on the interwebs but haven't been able to find any specific details of a timeframe. I know it's out for military and law enforcement. Anyone have any info on when the civilian version of the Tavor x95 is going to become available, especially the SBR version if that will be an option with tax stamp. I couldn't find any information on a release date, other than it had been rumored to be this year earlier, but not looking like it now.

I can't find anything indicating that they plan on releasing a civilian legal variant. In all actuality, it would be simple enough to just SBR a TAR-21 and call it good.

Except that the 21 and the x95 are different guns. The TAR-21 is the old version which has been or is being replaced with the x95 in most, if not all, military roles. They have actually indicated in the past that the x95 would eventually become available for the civilian market, but with no definite time that I have yet heard.

No info on this.. but I had a Tavor in the past and hope to get one again. Almost made a deal for one the other day. The bullpup configuration on it with the full 16 inch barrel is the best of both worlds for me... I would not WANT a shorter barrel, nor need one.

Dude, are you high!? What are you going to do when the zombies come and you have to hide in your closet and shoot through the door?! Not going to work with a full length barrel. Gotta think these things through buddy.
The 13" barrel on the x95 is just a bit longer than the barrel of my SBR, while the overall rifle is shorter, that would be great for me. I'm a huge fan of compact stuff that's still full size functional. Plus I like the AR style magazine release on the x95 and the shorter stock.

I bet you love it. ;-)

Different in proportions and ergonomics, sure. Functionally, they are pretty much identical (with the exception of fire control groups on FA models, which you can't have anyways.) Have you handled/shot a 21 yet?

Have you handled/shot a 21 yet? Yeah, and a gen 4 G19 is functionally pretty much identical to a gen 3 G17, doesn't mean interest in the former translates to interest in the latter. I get what you're saying, but it's not like I wanted a bullpup, saw the x95 and thought it would be nice to have but didn't realize there was the TAR-21 currently available. I'm aware of the 21, but am only mildly interested in owning one. When I read about the updated x95 and it's stats and saw some video reviews, I became very interested in that version. Hey Sean, I've handled the TAR-21 and liked it, but didn't feel any super strong desire to own it or shoot it. It felt a bit chunky to me and I wasn't fond of the magazine release. I'd certainly take one if it was given to me, but it's the old model every where in the world but here. When I saw the x95, I thought it addressed the couple things I didn't like on the 21 and became more interested. I don't "need" either one as I'm pretty happy with my ARs, but I would buy a x95 if it became available in the near future.

Well, unless they decide to make a civilian legal variant, you can forget owning one (unless you set up a Class III FFL.)

IWI has already indicated that they were planing on bringing the x95 to the civilian market. No specifics have been given on release date or exact specs, but they indicated it would likely have a 16.5" barrel and be released by year end 2015 with an SBR version to follow at some point. I figured if they release the 16.5" version, I can SBR it myself rather than wait if the SBR will be a way off. Definitely not interested in the TAR-21 if the x95 will be available in a few more months
So no, according to the people who sell the Tavor here in the states, I won't have to set up a class III FFL to get one. This was the whole point of this thread; we are approaching year end and I've still not heard a release date and I was wondering if anyone else had more information. Such as, will it be released soon, not soon, or they have changed their plans to an indefinite time frame. The point of this thread was not "hey here's a neato gun I want and know nothing about but want one".

Well, good to know that they're planning on releasing a non NFA variant. But, remember how long they were promising the TAR 21? Might as well start saving now.

It looks AWESOME. Even better then the Tavor... which I liked quite a lot. If someone wants to give me one, or give me 1800, I would be very happy.

i like the new x95 look over my odgreen tavor.
I've noticed that the grip has gotten more vertical and rounded. The charging handle also is moved back though I prefer it further forward.
Pretty much the same price; with the x95 having a better trigger I think its a no brainer unless you end up going with an aftermarket trigger

Yeah, makes me think the older version will likely be dropping in price pretty soon, otherwise I don't see much reason why many people would get one with the x95 being available.
The release of the x95 caught me off guard; I already have a list of other firearms and firearm related stuff I want to get and now this could be jumbling up my priorities.

Now that its out and I saw MAC go over it... I'll admit it, I want one. I'm certainly going to see if there is something I can sell to figure out how to get one. That said... if Ghost wants to dump his OD Green Tavor to get a new x95, I'll give him a puny sum of money for it, more then a gunshop would give... ;-)

Hearing a number of reports of accuracy issues with the new x95. Going to wait and see if they sort it out before I put any more thought into getting one.

I imagine they'll get it sorted out at some point in the near future, but I don't want to be an early adopter stuck with a subpar piece of equipment, so I'll just wait and see.

My precious Tavor. hopefully geissele triggers go down with x95 hitting the market :O bummer that the x95 has some problems - would have thought that these problems would be caught in the field with the IDF
depending on how things end up this year our stuff might go for a pretty premium ;)
