A few more questions. What is the wait time on something like the tang jian? Is payment due up front, when shipped, or deposit on order with balance due when shipped? I have never ordered a sword from another country. Have you ever sent anything to the USA before? Are there any big hassles, customs, brokerage fees etc?

Making the swords from scratch takes about a month. Shipping takes 1 - 2 weeks from China to North America.
To keep prices low, I have payment up front for special order/custom swords so I don't have to worry about transactional costs which can get annoying for international payments.
Yes, I've sent to the States. The only concern is custom charges which I can solve with a low declared value.

Dang for 200 bucks I would love the tang 2 with a jian blade...too bad I can't get that in california . BTW what is the blade on the special order swords? Is it the same as the production blades? Also roughly how much is shipping stuff over to the states cost anyways?

Yeah they're 1095 by default. There is also a differentially hardened option and a folded steel option.
In stock items ship for $25 within North America.
Special orders cost $60 from China to North America.

On a side note...can you use some bigger pictures on the website? I really have trouble seeing all the wonderful details in those tiny itty bitty tumbnails .

Yeah, a peened dao, finally Would a oxtail dao with the following specifications be possible: - peened - non-decorated - oval grip - satin polish of the blade (instead of mirror polish) If yes, how much would it cost and how long would it take to produce one? Eagerly waiting and thanks beforehand Cara

2 questions: 1) What's the point of 2 fullers? 2) What's a "False edge?"

1) aesthetics. changes the balance and weight distribution of the blade.
2) when the section of the blade normally unsharpened (spine) near the tip is somewhat sharpened to adjust balance and facilitate thrusting.

The Da Dao is one of the swords on my list to buy eventually. Still can't wait for my jian to get here.

Personally, I'm seriously considering getting a length modified tang jian, I'll likely be in contact with Garret soonish about possible options and such since I don't have the money now, but I will over the summer months (AKA. once I'm done school at the end of april).

Is the Willow Leaf Saber on that site? It's a good looking blade.
