How much would it cost to have brass fittings on the ox-tail instead of copper?

How much would it cost to have brass fittings on the ox-tail instead of copper? nothing . I have chosen to use a dull brass like the willow leaf. That is an older pic.

Did someone say Dadao for $200? ;D Sounds great. It's too bad the scabbard will be lost, but so goes today's economy.

What is the handle length on the willow leaf?
They are very pretty indeed garrett and I bet you are glad to finally be seeing some of this come to fruition. I like the new jian better than the old one because it looks sleeker and more streamlined as a jian should.
You are doing great work mate, why are you differentially hardening and not through hardening also what steel are they made out of?

As you may have noticed, I have a nicer jian version and a nicer dao. Those are an experiment to see if I can kind of initiate Chinese martial artists to have an appreciation for sword art.

I'm sort of a chinese martial artist in that I have done chinese martial arts but it isn't my main discipline and what I practice and teach these days is a combination of many different styles. However I can say that the chinese martial artist part of me has been looking for a real chinese sword for many years.

The first batch is in production. It contains a small amount of the plain jian, oxtail dao, and da dao. Expected availability: July, 2008

Great to hear that the first batch is being made. I'll probably buy the ox-tail the day you get it, lol.
EDIT: Just wondering, you talked about a suspension system that you could get custom made. Could you describe it, and how much it would cost?

It is so sad that the Da Dao will not come with scabbard but I still want one .Am I correct that the Da Dao usually did not come with scabbard to begin with and only KMT carried them in scabbard because they need to keep their hand free to hold a rifle ? I might have to make one out of leather or nylon (I don't have a clue how to make one yet )

I might have to make one out of leather or nylon (I don't have a clue how to make one yet ) It is too bad but the sheath I had shown earlier costs more than the sword itself! It would have been up to the soldier to customize his own da dao. The only official KMT sheath (with insignia) I've seen was specially made after the war to commemorate it. Apparently a soldier killed 9 Japanese with it or something along those lines.

EDIT: Just wondering, you talked about a suspension system that you could get custom made. Could you describe it, and how much it would cost? It's only an option with a custom made sword at this point. So you'd need to order a $700 sword I'll look into getting it put into production at some point.
