I think ti would be really good if you made some of the exotic Chinese weapons. Today in Kung Fu I handled some Tiger Hook Swords, and man, they felt amazing to use (this seems to be true for every Chinese weapon I use). The only ones online that I can find are usually wushu or stainless. If you made Tiger Hooks, Wheels, Deer Antler Knives out of carbon steel, you would probably get a lot of customers.

Dude if he did that I would be so damn broke it isn't funny. Tiger hooks are hard to use in tandem, the fight scene in crouching tiger tells you just how good a martial artist that older woman is, the way she uses them is exquisite.

Yeah I've gotten a few requests like that. All I can say is one step at a time. I also have to do some research on those. From what I know those are MUCH more prevalent in modern times than they ever were in the past. I've yet to see antiques of Deer Antler knives and wheels. Because of that issues of what the weight and balance should be come into play.

It is so sad that the Da Dao will not come with scabbard but I still want one .Am I correct that the Da Dao usually did not come with scabbard to begin with and only KMT carried them in scabbard because they need to keep their hand free to hold a rifle ? I might have to make one out of leather or nylon (I don't have a clue how to make one yet ) It is too bad but the sheath I had shown earlier costs more than the sword itself! It would have been up to the soldier to customize his own da dao. The only official KMT sheath (with insignia) I've seen was specially made after the war to commemorate it. Apparently a soldier killed 9 Japanese with it or something along those lines. In that case , I will put my sewing skill to good used making the sheath for this Da Dao. My last ran in with law enforcement officer during recent trip convince me that the lost tourist and large sword don't mix so I will have to left da doa behind .

First of all, I really love your weapons, Garrett, and it's great to have somebody who is willing to make Chinese weapons more accessible, big thanks for that!
Would it be possible to make a peened Dao? I am kind of allergic against threaded weapons...

Been thinking about a jian to see how it feels in the hands. Has the POB on the jians been mentioned yet?

I don't think I will hot peen the swords because it's asking for trouble when the wood shrinks. Upon customer request I can kind of do a cold peen over the nut and thread lock it though.
PoB on the jian will be 11 - 12 cm (4.3" - 4.7") from the top of the guard.

The blades are done; just need to be polished. The fittings and everything still need to be done so we are a bit more than halfway there. I've got some pics of the actual production batch below. Only problem I see is on the miao dao prototype, fullers should not extend down to the forte. I'll have that fixed for next time. Oxtail dao Da dao Miao dao Prototype 1 (57" long can't fit in picture? lol)

Thanks guys. I'm also pleased with how they look so far.
Wraith, the jian has a 27.5" blade and the weight will be just shy of 2 lbs.

I won't be stocking them, but I can have a Han jian special ordered. see: www.jin-shi.com/spec_orders.htm It's a Han dao but we can swap it out for a jian blade. Price is $274.99 - 5% SBG discount.
