I only know they are planning a 2nd season. Considering they try to keep the events of what happened during filming a secret I don't really expect to hear much. They are still casting, so they might even already be planning a 3rd season. I suspect they have either already finished filming the 2nd season or coming close to the end of the filming, depending on how long the cast lasted. At the point they finish I suspect we will start to hear a trickle of people saying they were in the show's 2nd season.

Season 2 is upon us!
They had a "making of" episode the other day for season 2... Give you a look behind the scenes at how they select the 10 contestants, how they prep them and the locations, a bit of background on the new seasons people. Very interesting. The new season kicks off this Thursday.
There is a local guy from my city of Agusta Ga in this season... Justin Vititoe. He is a military vet, sniper, and was a trainer at a local Firearms company here in the area I know well, having bought several weapons from them, including my custom made "Ghost Gun" that you can see in another thread here. Cool to have a local boy in the mix. Also... This season there are 3 ladies among the 10 contestants... I guess they heard very loud and clear the question last season as to why there were no women.
Excited, can't wait. Last season was some of the best most I grossing TV for me in a long time.

Looking forward to it, though I hope there isn't the dangerous animal issue this time, I much prefer the survival aspect of the show.

Looking forward to it, though I hope there isn't the dangerous animal issue this time, I much prefer the survival aspect of the show. I saw some clips that certainly indicated a few animal issues... but on an island where there are wolves, bear, and cougars at least some of that is to be expected. Critters played a VERY small role in the first season tho... after the first 3 episodes I don't recall critters being much of an issue... unless you count birds stealing one of the contestants fish. ;-)

Yeah you're right it became a non issue in the later parts of the show but in the first few episodes it was a pretty big issue. Didn't one of the guys give up for fear of a bear attack?
I know the animal factor is a real issue in these types of situations but I just felt with the rules and limitations of the show it took away from the survival aspect, for me anyways.

Yeah.. the first guy to leave left in one day because he was scared of the Bears. Another guy left shortly after that because he was scared of the wolves. The only other animal situation that came up, as I recall, was one of the guys cooked and eat AT his sleeping camp... which attracted a cougar. It didn't hang around long tho... but scared the crap outa him and he took off. I think all of that happened in or near the first week. For the guys that really stuck it out, the critters were a non issue.

the animals are only an issue if you dont take a slingbow, aint skilled with it, and lack fortitude. A bear's meat and fat will win the prize for you, so wth are you doing not taking such a weapon? Especially now that you can take 9 arrows, instead of 6. So you can have 3 broadheads, not just two, 1 fishing arrow for bowfishing, featuring the 4-tined fishing heads, so you can use the multitool to convert each tine into 2 fishhooks in a few minutes each. Use the snare wire to convert the hooks into treblehooks. You get to take a spare slingshot rubber, so you can use those to power your trotline hooks, while using seasoned forked sticks to power the treblehooks that you set for mammals and birds. I would do everything in my power to get animals to come into my camp! For a shot at a cougar, wolf, or bear, I'd keep the Condor shovel in my belt, where I could grab it, after dropping the slingbow,

Take the Condor saw-edged E-tool (modified to really cut a kerf) and for sites not on a sea coast, the 3 lb block of salt has to go. because it's a great bait, you need the electrolites, you need it to preserve meat and fish in warm weather, and it helps you choke down the 300 lbs of fish that you'll have to eat. Take the snarewire, a slingbow, a 5 qt skillet with lid (Amazon), the fishing kit, (as 8 BIG treblehooks, for catching wolves and cougars, as warm a synthetic sleeping bag as you can get, a modified Crunch multi-tool, the big roll of duct tape, and one of Chief Aj's slingbow. You have to unravel the hammock and its rope into small cordage, weave it into netting, use it as baited weirs and as a seine.

dig a seep well. build a little mud and grass wall around it to keep critters out of it, and cover it vs bird crap.Use a roll of tarp and tape seam to make a water filter, using moss, gravel, sand, charcoal, and a bit of T shirt. Then you dont have to boil your drinking water.I detest cooking over a wood fire, the heat is always changing before you're done cooking. I'ts a real pita. you are clearing $3000 a day out there, so just man up and choke down lots of boiled fish and boiled-fried (in fish oil) cambium and dandilion roots. If you have lots of fishheads and guts, you'll be able to bait in and catch or arrow other critters and birds, for a change of diet.
