Is anyone game to bid on it this time?

I think most of us are just following this out of curiosity rather than actual buying interest

Edit: I posted before seeing the above posts. Only this time they are accepting PayPal payments. I wonder if that friend is going to be upping the bids like last time? I would be interested , I really want this one. But to be honest I am hesitant to bid on it due to all the hinky action that's been occurring on the auction. But since they are now accepting PayPal I may bid on it. But I still don't trust it.

Yeah, I wouldn't I mean, if you are spending that much money, you want to be sure of what you are getting yourself into.
He may just drop your bid if you try paying by paypal anyways, citing some unspecified issues with postage etc.
I mean, the fact that the seller is so desperate to avoid paypal, or indeed any other form of payment with buyer protection is concerning

During the last listing, I asked the seller why he didn't want to take PayPal. He told me that he currently has *three* open PayPal disputes.
Now, he may be using PayPal in other contexts, but if those three only relate to his ten eBay sales, well ... maybe he's just a really unlucky guy.

I used "bank transfer" early last year for a purchase, after calculating the exchange rate and postage I sent the money off, however on the way to the biggest American bank the transaction was waylaid by a subsidiary bank that then added a "processing fee". After I complained to my bank in Australia I received a refund for this "processing fee". Long story short, avoid inter-country bank transfers

I can't help wonder if the three he is speaking of against him, by others and that's why he's uninterested in paypal. But regardless I have decided that I am not going to bid. Too many red flags. There will always be another. A great price is only that if you in fact receive the item you payed the great price for. Just too many possibilities for things to go wrong. And I don't want a bunch of my money tied up in a disspute. I would rather pay full price on a guaranteed new one from someone here in the USA.

I keep changing my mind on this one, that low starting bid just keeps drawing me in, might make a few bids, but if I see that proxy bidder I'm reporting it.

Hi Dave,
There's a new zero feedback buyer bidding:
***
Bidder Information Bidder: n***I ( 0 ) New eBay Member (less than 30 days) Feedback: 0% Positive Item Title: Albion Regent long sword Bids on this item: 2 30-Day Summary Total bids: 14 Items bid on: 4 Bid activity (%) with this seller: 100% Help Bid retractions: 0 Bid retractions (6 months): 0 *** Wow! 14 bids on 4 of this seller's items, and 100% bid activity with this seller. Must be a generous chap.
**Edited to add: Oh, and eBay shows that they're the same bidder who placed the 8 bids on the previous listing for the Regent. Strange that the seller didn't sell the sword to them instead of re-listing.
But wait! This bidder is the same one who placed a bid for $5000 for the same seller's violin ... but appears to have not paid for it ... and is now bidding again.
Is this good enough for you?

I tested the waters and placed a bid only to be outbid by our mystery friend a few hours later. I reported this to ebay through the system but it dosnt give you a chance to give details of what you are reporting and the other auctions its been going on with.

looking at the listing something that's a little more than just suss is he's posted as not accepting returns on the item despite this from ebay pages.ebay.com.au/help/buy/contextual/return-policy.html and Australian law. Sword might be good and a great price atm if him or his mate don't jack the prices up with the false bids but I'd be staying well away from this "Bargain"

I reported this to ebay through the system but it dosnt give you a chance to give details of what you are reporting and the other auctions its been going on with. Hi Paul,
If you click on 'Report item', you can then select the following from eBay's drop-down menu items:
Report Category = Listing practices
Reason for Report = Fraudulent listing activities
Detailed Reason = Seller is using other accounts to inflate item price
My guess is if a few people do this, then eBay would have to take note. They'll be able to see the fraud pretty easily.

Thanks Mark, yes went through the menu process and selected all the right bits just as you showed. I was just hoping for a comment section at the end so I could add more details about this and the previous auctions and conduct, and also his other items.

I've reported it twice and it's still going on, the mystery bidder has pushed it over $800 and is the top bidder.

The Munich is really almost a Museum line sword. Functionally, it's an exact copy of the longsword in the Bayrischen Landesmuseum in Munich. All it lacks are a carved leather grip and some engraving. There were plans to actually offer an exact replica with all the bling in the Museum line but that proved to be too expensive.
The Ringeck is one of Peter Johnsson's designs, not a replica of an existing sword.

Looks like there was an actual bidding war between two legit buyers - guess it makes it a bit better - better than a bidding war between a shell and a halpess e-bayer
