Hi, interesting auction. I may be totally wrong, but didn't this smell fishy??: - a zero feedback brandnew buyer bids up the most expensive reproduction sword currently on ebay - the zero feedbacker starts his career with very high priced items - the zero feedbacker placed bids ONLY with ONE sellers auctions - he bids on two VERY different objects by the SAME seller, a VIOLINE (!) and a sword, what a coincidence that both, seller and buyer share the exactly curious interests.... What is going on there ;-) Greetings Andreas

Andreas you make a good point, think I will watch this one more closely now, though it is getting close to leaving "it's the great buy" and heading into "still a nice sword for the price".

I'm watching this auction as a spectator as a prelude to him listing his Regent....... Though it's the Earl that I'm much more interested in.

Sounds like he has a friend bidding it up. When I noticed it was withdrawn I thought that it had been sold privately. His regent is still active, but with the apparent uncertainty it might be safer to keep it local and cash on pickup.

I did also notice that the seller only accepts Bank transfers. So if purchased one would not even have the benefit of PayPal's protections. That is why I am choosing not to bid on it. Being in the US the exchange rate makes the price nice but I won't risk a bank transfer purchase overseas. In this situation. Its too bad I would like to have that regent. Since I missed out on the one on my armoury.

So I just checked the Regent listing again. And something very interesting occured. Not long ago it listed the opening bid at I think it was 1400AU and had no bidders. Now it has two bidds but they are only at 449 AU. That's a quite large drop in opening bid from what was listed only a couple of hours ago. Maybe its just me. But sure seems like some thing screwy is going on. But one thing that's a hell of a low price now. Can't wait to see where it goes.

the money order alone is almost enough to make you stop watching it. Kinda sketchy....

Is weird, my ebay page says he is taking Paypal, is anyone from here bidding? I might place a few bids if it doesn't go too high, but if some one is seriously looking to buy this one I'll stay away.
edit... looking in the bids listing you can see his mate is back and pushing up the bids.

I messaged him and he said cash on pickup is fine, so I guess that helps. I was thinking of bidding but only if it's a bargain and by that I'm thinking <$1,000, not a price I would expect to get it for though. I've actuall been thinking of downsizing a few as I've got a few in progress.

Too rich for my blood, looks like the seller is taking PayPal, I would go for the cash on pickup if I were bidding, with only 16hrs to go and only as $449 I suspect it will be withdrawn.

edit... looking in the bids listing you can see his mate is back and pushing up the bids. Yep, looks like it's the same person (who has a zero transaction history) who made the highest bid on the Munich, before all the bids were withdrawn.
I guess it *could* all be legit, but all the pieces together don't sit well ...

I did also notice that the seller only accepts Bank transfers. I thought all listings on Ebay had to offer PayPal as a form of payment, so that everyone had protection ... or has that changed?
Either way, not encouraging that the seller has stated bank transfers only in their listing.

I went back and reread the listing. In his description of the item is where it states that he only accepts bank transfers. I don't see any were the option for paypal. But it does say the listing is protected by the EBay full protection money back plan. I still find that the way that listing is going to be scetchy. And as much as I like the regent. I still think I will watch this listing but that's all for me. It does not mention a reserve any were that I saw. But if the bids don't go up. I wonder if they will pull it like they did the other sword.
