I decided not to worry about it, would have placed a few bids on the Munich, but I already got a Regent so I am really looking for an Earl.

Think I might stop bidding on principal, looks like his friend is back bidding it up, r***u who has a zero feedback score.

yeah, seems sketchy. Wouldn't be able to be comfortable knowing that they got some extra money out from you like that.

Well I see it went for $719.48 US. That is an amazing price in my book. I did inquire prior to the final sale. And they did not accept Paypal. Otherwise I would have been bidding. Even with $100 shipping. It would have been more than worth it. I just didn't want anything to do with a bank transfer. Although it might have been worth it. But oh well that's how it goes in the fast paced high stakes life or death world of "hahaha" sword collecting. Maybe the next one.

lol got a eBay message from the seller;
"Hey mate the winner has decided not to go ahead before I relist would you take it for 1400"
Replied I'll have to pass but it might be worth contacting the other bidder, r****u who has been pretty active in a few of your auctions??
Sketchy as.

Yeah....just a bit. I mean, if you have to go through this level of sketchiness before you even pay, I hate to image what will happen once you actually get it in the mail (if ever)

Yep the Regent, he changed the listing to start at $400 then started using other accounts to bit it up. I put a couple of bids down but didn't like the feeling of the false bids outbidding me.

I see that he has changed his description to include the caveat " If you want to pay with PayPal don't bid" now I understand that some people don't like to use PayPal. And far be it for me to understand all the reasons why. But this adamant refusal to except any thing but a bank transfer, coupled with all the other things that have happened. Are a big red flag to me. And its too bad. I would like to get a new regent at a fair price. But this auction smells fishy to me all the way here in MT. USA.

This is also in direct contravention of eBay policy:
Accepted payments policy
Our accepted payments policy gives buyers and sellers on eBay convenient payment options. Sellers need to state in their listing specifically which payment methods they accept and only offer payment methods approved by eBay ...
For most categories of listings on eBay.com.au, sellers need to offer at least one of the following safer electronic payment methods: •PayPal •Paymate •Credit card processed through the seller's internet merchant account
Note: Only items paid for using one of these three payment methods are eligible for eBay Money Back Guarantee.
...
Additional information Sellers who state in their listing that they accept certain payment methods must not selectively offer those payment methods to buyers or discourage buyers from using those payment methods.
This means that sellers must always accept payment from buyers through the payment methods they have selected in their Payment Details section of their listing and must not act in any way to discourage buyers from paying by these methods.

Paypal Au policy says that the seller must accept either paypal, paymate (whatever that is) or credit card, and cannot discourage the use of any of these accepted methods. Since this seller clearly violates this policy with regards to their refusal to take anything but bank transfer, I reported it as such. Lets see what happens

. Thank you for the info. It does tend to make a person have questions, when one sees these kinds of things on ebay. Sounds like they might be trying to circumvent the money back guarantee. So that the purchaser could end up paying by bank transfer and then have no money back recourse because of it. I guess I will contact eBay and ask their take on this auction. Now my curiosity is piqued. And I was posting this at same time as the following post. I too will file a complaint with Ebay

Hence the report. If more people start reporting the ad, maybe they will be inclined to take action?
EDIT: yeah, did not see Mark T's post before I put mine in. He said it better than I did. Definitely grounds to report this

Well it appears that the sword was pulled from eBay. Apearantly eBay did not like that they were demanding only one form of payment. I think that whole operation was fishy.
