Come to Canada! We have some decent microbrews up here for both dark and light ales :P
However, I was feeling decidedly colonial yesterday and had a G&T while marking. Meant to post yesterday, but somehow slipped my mind. Nothing like some good ol' malaria-busting Quinine

Sipping a Hardywood Cream Ale after dinner. Not my favorite, but not bad. Wanted to try it, only sold in six-pack cans, so have to drink the rest now.

I am having another as we speak. If you come by Ottawa, check these folks out les3brasseurs.ca/eng/beers/3Its a very good restaurant which happens to have an on-site brewery. Or maybe its a brewery with a restaurant attached - not sure. Either way, both facets of its identity are exquisite.

I am currently along in a dark lab marking exams by the eerie glow of my computer. I can feel my life slowly slipping away in a cloud of despair, and thus cannot be bothered to get up and turn on the lights
Hope that makes you feel better :P

Some friends of mine on the other side of the state often go to a place called Bull & Bones, a wings and burgers kind of place with a brewery. Got to try their sample platter of brews on a visit a while back, some were good, some were great, some...weren't.

I couldn't resist, I'm a sucker for peanut butter cups I took some pics of one of the beer sections in my local supermarket. There are two gigantic walls of good beer, a section just for making your own sixpacks and then for those who don't care much about what they drink, there's a whole walk in fridge section full of Badweiser, Snoors rusty bullet, Miller Genuine Piss, etc. I can waste an hour just reading all the labels of beers I haven't heard of yet build your own 6-pack section great wall o beer view through the wine aisle Import & Craft section and this is just in the supermarket around the corner -Josh

Very nice. Most of the grocery stores and the ilk in my area carry very little, sticking to the "safe" stuff that actually sells, but there are two or three specialty places just barely out of reach with pretty sizeable selections that I just don't get to often enough.
Out in Radford/Christiansburg by where some of my friends live, it's a fancy-pants "college town" so booze of all kinds are EVERYWHERE. So jealous.

After living in Germany 18 years, cannot drink typical American beer. It is just horrible and makes be want to vomit. I end up buying import when back in the States. Good guy xD I'm not drunk yet, but I'm trying very hard. Get myself a bottle of Southern Comfort. Need some alcoholic input, otherwise I become totally workaholic... And tomorrow a new mission awaits. Have been drunk before the now finished mission. Weekly change of missions isn't normal to me, but I've said yes as they asked if I like to be a working-everything-everywhere-bad girl...xD I'll see what the next weeks will bring, new offers already awaits... :) Edit: Ey, I havn't written "bad girl"...

Have not tried anything new made since 1992 in the States though. Maybe there are some decent new ones? You cant get drunk from american beer. Just not possible. On my first US trip i had about 12 cans of Miller and didnt feel a thing...beyond that crap running straight through me!

The Frenchman are brewing beer? Okay, no French-bashing at this point. I like... pah, I LOVE everything what they pressed and made out of grapes :)

There are high-ABV brews in the States, but Miller is not one of them. In my refrigerator right now, I have a big bottle (750ml) of Chaos Mountain Brewing's "Agents of Chaos" which they bill as a "Belgian style special dark ale." 10% ABV, rich and smooth. Drink a glass too fast and you'll be wanting to sit down. For me, though, it's just enough to feel nice and relaxed. I don't drink to get drunk, I drink because I'm thirsty and it tastes nice.

I have a Miller-T-Shirt that says genuine draft, but have never tasted their stuff. Also have an Indian-Shirt, but never ride their bikes... I can't say anything about American beers, but I'm sure especially some small breweries will offer excellent stuff. Innovations in weed (Super Skunk, okay that's 80's, but it was the starting point) and steel (Howard Clark) have come from those states, where free thinking is allowed, so the US of A. I can rememeber that I've once tasted Bud, but no remarkable taste is left. Simliar to Foster's (hello to my relatives, even that they won't read here) my memory says...
When drinking alone (oh, maybe I should give George Thorogood a spin xD)I drink to be drunken xD. Once there was a popular t-shirt in my country that says (translated): "Everyone sees me drunken, no one sees I'm thirsty" xD

My grocery has a pretty good selection, but there is also a BevMo nearby that has even more.

I like it almost as much as the real Belgian ales that have spoiled me so. Chimay, Delirium, a few out of Brouwerij van Steenberge... First beer to ever make me reconsider having a second was van Steenberge's Piraat: www.vansteenberge.com/en/our-beer/piraat/piraat/Had a glass, something like 6-8 ounces, just to try it out. Drank it far too quickly, apparently, as a few minutes later I decided "That was pretty good, let me go ahead and finish off the bottle" and as I stood up everything started spinning...so I just sat back down for a bit. Nearly the same experience with Agents of Chaos, but a bigger bottle and a larger glass. In fact, here's the post I made in the real Beer Thread about it: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/post/630791/threadIn getting that link, I was just a bit off, and accidentally "liked" my own post...can I "un-like" it or am I stuck looking like that guy now?

Cool. There is also a Total Wine & More nearby and they have a huge selection. I did a quick search on their site, didn't see it. Have you tried Master of Disguise imperial golden stout from Stone Stochasticity Project? They seem to have that in stock.
