Looks good to me. Nice fighting tool. Sturdy and with a thick guard. Obviously export, but that does not mean to Argentina per se. There are no Army marks, which is odd, because this seems to be a troopers version, so I would at least expect a rack and weapon number. Paging Pino!

Yeah - lack of markings combined with the unusual Toledo stamp is odd, but not enough to put me off. The fact that its fullered on one side, however, does.
I know its supposed to have a fuller on one side, but it just makes it look silly. Maybe someone else here will snag it up. I recently got an 1873 Prussian artillery sword, which fills the "Germanic artillery short sword" niche for me....at least for now >.>

Interesting. The hilt doesn't look like a reproduction, but the picture of blade isn't good enough...

I am not particularly keen on buying it - just curious what it might be I will. I'm also curious about it, might even consider buying, but shipping to Croatia and taxes would probably kill the deal.

Hell and buggerdoo, Alex!!! I don't need this. I have no damn place to put it. I have to pay off the Earl. ....I am going to buy this... :( I have no idea where this came from. It's not Italian. If the blade is hexagonal it's Spanish. If it's fullered I'm baffled. Will be a semprini to conserve. But it's a big nasty pallasch...and..must...have...big swordie..... Stay tuned

Good luck. Seller didn't respond to my message. If you get it and decide to sell it I call dibs. ;)

I asked as well just for kicks - maybe if we fill their inbox with requests they might find it worthwhile to put up some more pics - demonstrates that there is a broad interest in seeing that blade!

Looks like a French M1822 Bancal hilt. I have seen some M1822 LC with this blade too. One was for sale. I am gonna get it. The more I read about the M1822, the more variations come up. The French put Bancal hilts, M1854 hilts, M1822 line or LC hilts on everything they got and I know about this blade since only last week. It will never end! Help!
Edit: Have the impression this one hung in smoke, above a fire place. Look at that black scabbard and the black on the leather parts. Want to bet its soot, which would be nice, since soot is fatty and prevents rust. That scabbard might be better than it looks. Since you are in no way able to accomodate this sword Dave, may I suggest I help you, as a good friend should do and prevent you from buying it, by buying it meself? You know, as a friend? Lighten your burden? Save you the agony?

Reply from seller:
"Will post some Pictures tomorrow. Blade has a large fuller."
UPDATE - Further clarification:
"One large fuller"
One large fuller on a pallasch? Maybe a straightened 1822?

Might be a composite. There is an Austrian with such a blade, one side flat. Cannot remember what year. Must be before 1860, because of the battle and the story. Or the story will fall through. The straight M1822 has a fuller on both sides. Could be an M1854 hilt too by the way.
Do you see now what a good friend I am Afoo? Dave cannot stand this aggravation, at all. He is reading. Books. Lots of them. What shall I say, an easely disturbed poetical and delicate nature like Dave, this tender lilly of the field, or Goethes ,,Roslein auf der Heide'', should be protected against these things.

Here is a picture of an M1822 HC Officers sabre: The type is mentioned in l'Hoste, page 443, illustrations 913 - 914. The troopers HC blade is gently curved, The Officers blade is straight. Never seen it before, nor seen it mentioned on forums, nor at dealers.

Indeed, though when he gets distressed, he may start selling his sharp objects, much like how a porcupine sheds its quills. Maybe this is my plan all along >:D I thin kit has a fuller on both sides - I can ask, or we can wait for pictures to come out tomorrow. I am away for a week starting tomorrow, but let me know how this adventure plays out

Oh, I thought you mentioned the blade was flat on one side. Okay, what we have here is a French HC sabre M1822 blade with an M1822 Bancal or M1854 hilt. Looking at the blade again, it is like the ,,normal'' m1822 curved blade, but straight. One large fuller, with a narrow one between it and the spine. The ricasso I cannot see, so it is hard to tell its aproximate age.
Will keep an eye on things, sure. Be safe.

Nah, you guys are looking at the wrong country.
Took me a while to believe it wasn't a frankensword but the Italian background made me look at the book of Italian military swords by mr. Cesare Calamandrei and there I found it p.478: it's an Italian dragoon trooper sword M1830-60, Kingdom of Naples.

Thought about it but 2 other fellas here have some interest in that sword so I prefer to let them have it at a good price.
