Just seeing how much interest there would be in a line of tactical swords and/or knives by SlavEdge. All the big sword companies have their own interpretation of tactical style swords and blades,as do a handful of custom smiths. Should SlavEdge join the club? If so give us some ideas!

Technically swords that are functional are already tactical, right? I mean they are made to fight with, and isn't combat really the true definition of tactical?
Though I suspect you mean the typical modern tactical stuff. Black coating or patina. Slab handle with full tang showing. Etc.
While I wouldn't really be in the market, it could be a way to get a bit of business for you. I am sure there would be some interest as the tactical stuff sells pretty well everywhere else. Even the cheesiest stuff that isn't even functional seems to sell.

Basically, what Ineffableone said. No interest myself but anything usable against zombies and home invaders and that looks remotely tactical seems to do well.

Lol. Everyone who hasn't posted probably wants a few. If I was to get one, I think somewhere around a 17" blade would be pretty tactical enough for me. I'm just throwing that out there because it would be a substantial blade with good maneuverability. Not too bulky that you wouldn't have a big issue packing it around, in a tactical environment. ;-) Cheers, Cody

The nowadays tactical military cool look stuffs, including knife or sword are not my concern. I prefer largely traditionnal katana.

Esthetically or technically, I never saw the interest of the post-modern "tactical" katana/waki... And when I want a tactical knife, I buy REAL Army weapons. BUT, I have to admit your tanto is definitely classy, Slav.

The army hardly buys tactical knives any longer. remember, they buy for the semi trained masses and from the lowest bidder. Not a rousing endorsement for "REAL army weapons".

That's a really nice tanto... if you don't mind me asking, do you treat the samegawa/ito with some kind of laquer or something similar to repel water/chemicals/other liquids?

Yes, the ito is epoxy soaked, so it is pretty much rock hard, sort of like Micarta.

For me it would depend on the price and how exactly you define "tactical." I'm always interested in designs that does away with unecessary traditionalism in favor of making the weapon as practical as possible.

I'd be interested in a tactical/hunting knife. I'm always looking for those. 7-9" blade. But not so much in tactical swords though for me.

The military doesn't issue knives only bayonets, you have to buy your own knife. They will only let you carry a 5in blade utility style blade. Got to keep the killer look down. Yes I know some troops carried knife styled to kill. But really you are better off with a utility knife. A Gerber I think LMF was the most popular blade, could be problaby am wrong.

We are very excited to be working on a tactical wakizashi design based on a rad prototype we built from a cut down katana. More to come...
