I have had dozens of knives and daggers over the years. I have to say my favorite is the Windlass D-Guard Bowie Knife. Just love this bowie. Gave my first one to a friend and had to replace it.

Overall, my favorite is my "little" J.J. Martinez "Arabe" pocketknife. It's about 9" overall open, blade just shy of 4" with a cutting edge just over 3.5" (small ricasso, bit of a choil) but it's always in my pocket. Always. I am quite literally never without this knife. It comes in handy for too many things and I've become spoiled if I find myself without it, on the rare occasion I've left it on my desk after stropping it. Big knives, though...that's a tough one. I'm taken with my big 15" Sirupate kukri...but am also very fond of my two antique pesh kabz. Obviously, there is no using of these two, but if I could...they'd be very nice...in a bad way. On that note...the flyssa would be, too... Honorable mentions are my Citadel Trapper and a Pegas from Zlatoust. Those two are my usual EDC, favoring the latter, so I'm a bit partial. I do have a fair number of Big Scary Knives, but since I have no practical use for them, they tend to collect dust and be considered useless. Can't really say any of them are "favorite" material...

I don't know a lot about knives but I have had a few over the years too. My favorite so far is the Ed Martin MK7 Bushcraft. It is a simple knife but feels light and balanced. It also fits my hands very well (fat fingers). This was the first knife that gave me a "wow" feeling from picking it up. Attachments:

Tough question... I've got some customs that I really like, and a few EDCs that always seem to find their way back into my pocket. But I think I've got to go with a classic: the Gerber Mark I. I've had several over the years - lost a few, ruined a few, gave a couple away - but I always went back. I almost hate to admit it, but I still have 5 of them, lol. 2 regulars, 2 presentation daggers, and a 35th Anniversary Edition that I just had to buy. (In my defense, 1 regular + 1 presentation were bought as replacements for the ones that I thought were lost for good; but I ended up getting them back.)

I'm attracted to D-Guards, so I keep noticing that big Atlanta Cutlery version that Willilam mentioned, but have never got around to buying it. Speaking of D-guards - my favorite knife is a WWII, theatre-modified Camillus Mark 2. Some sailor modified the basic knife and put a sturdy D-guard on it. It makes a lethal combination.

For folders, it'd probably have to be my Kershaw Leek. I have and have had a bunch of knives, including ones by Cold Steel, CRKT, Schrade, Benchmade, and Spyderco, but my humble Leeks always resume their place at the top of the heap before too long.
For fixed blades I'd have to nominate my KA-BAR 1217.

I've had and liked a bunch of different style knives over the years but I have to go with the one that is with me all day, every day. I picked up a Sanrenmu 710 frame lock folder in black for about $10 a few months ago and out of all the other edc's I have (many much more expensive) this little guy has never let me down. It's the most comfortable, lightest, lowest profile, easiest to deploy and most durable of all so far. I can't remember money better spent than when I bought this knife. Attachments:

I concur. I have carried my leak for a while now and I won't leave home without it. Does everything I need it to. Ditto on the Ka-bar. My brother, an acutal for real marine, gave me one years ago. For me it's the best all around fixed blade knife.

Man, what a question. I really don't have a favorite out of all mine. I EDC a CRKT M16-13Z, but it's just my lightest (and most legal) folder out of only 3. I'm not much into folders. My USMC Ka-Bar rides in the truck, but one of the 7" models has always been in my vehicle since high school. Now that I'm starting to buy khukuris, ask me again in 6 months.

Kabar's classic models are good stuff. For years I carried their smaller model 1232 as my EDC and it served me well. I only felt the need to replace it because it was wearing thin from my obsessive sharpening and had worn its tip through its sheath. Couldn't have that poking me at inopportune times, you know.
Their more "standard" models, like the USMC and such, strike me as perhaps a bit large for EDC, but are certainly very good knives. I worry about their "combat" reputation, though, interfering with public perception of their EDC eligibility.
That Fallkniven looks like good stuff; I keep forgetting about those folks. Mostly because I can't afford the majority of their catalog, but they've got quite the rep on these internets.

At the minute I'm loving my CS Natchez Bowie in SK5,although I hate the damn securex sheath. I also absolutely love my Rajah 2 folder,I pretty much carry it everywhere everyday except when I go shopping (our knife laws suck!). For me it seems to be the almost perfect knife for 99% of what I do,and it gets an absolutely hair popping edge on it that it will keep for ages. I've chopped tree limbs, opened seed bags, cut rope, skin and jointed rabbits, even killed ,skin and butchered a deer with it,and much more. Just love it.

Ranger Mk II by Ray Ennis of Entrek Knives. Love this bad boy. Ray gets the most out of 440C. Some people pass his blades up because of how "uncool" 440C seems, but let me tell you, his blades are tough as nails and built like tanks.

I also like the bark river sts-5 www.dlttrading.com/brk-s5-sbcm.htmlThe only thing holding me back from ordering one is the blade thickness, I'd like to hold it 1st but that's never going to be an option me me here.

The folder I carry every day was a gift from a forum member. It is a Kershaw CKT.

I don't know if I should thank you or curse you for the introduction to these knives.
I thought that Ranger was nice, then I saw the Force Recon. If only it were a subhilt...
...and now I see there's a Page 2 and oh dear god the Silhouette.
I hate you. On behalf of my wallet, you are an evil, evil man.

Lately, my cold steel K4... i.imgur.com/GyAz1eP.jpgPurchased in 2008. Same day it arrived I effed up the finish with a coarse norton stone and 80 grit sandpaper trying to lower the bevels, like a semprini. Shelved it, disgusted. Gained skills over time. Un-shelved it last month, undid the gouges and hand-worked a mirror polish on. Now it rocks.

For EDC, I am still in love with my Kershaw Leek.
Fixed blade, my Grandpa's old Cattaraugus 225Q, arguably the finest steel issued during WW2. Great knife...
