Ok. It shows up, I will. When I tap it edge to edge vs my other knives (i.e. Kershaw, Buck, etc), it puts a cut into the cutting edge of my other knives without them cutting into its edge. BTW, that is a nice throwing knife. I have a few throwing knives. Practice every so often in the back yard. The sides and hilt of my throwing knives show a lot of impact wear. Not the point though. My throwing knives religiously avoid hitting with the point. Must be them, not me :-) RinC

i'm amazed at how you can pick a single knife as favorite.

Just a point (pun intended) about throwing knives. The majority of production throwing knives are crap, and rely on the teen knife market to sell. Competitive knife throwers tend to buy custom throwers because very little of the commercial market is even close to being right weights or balance. So while it sounds like some of the issue for you is justifiably your own skills, or lack there of there is also the high likelihood that the knives themselves are part to blame. Big problem with throwing is constancy, you need to throw as close as possible to the same way every time. Same release, same power, same speed, etc. If your not hitting point or blade first, then back up or forward to adjust the amount of revolutions the knife does. Don't adjust your other elements, adjust your distance from target. Once you get consistent on target hitting become much easier. You then figure out the different distances you need to hit point first and hilt first throws. Slowly you get better at judging distance and which method to throw. Always trying to keep the power speed and release as constant as possible. Only after getting really good at that 90%+ ability to hit point first do you consider changing power speed and release to adjust for range.

Steffen: I, for one, have some 40-50 knives, most of which I've carried and/or used for various tasks at some point. There are just those that do well, and those that don't. My "favorite" is just the one that does the most the best for me. Others from the rest may do one or two things better, but only those one or two things, they could be really bad at the rest. It's a game of compromise. ineff: I'm not really picky, but I'll have to look around when I get around to buying.

Oh, right. Wow, that is way too much to look at. I'm liking the French trade knives, but that Longhunter is calling me, too...

Gave up and bought one of each. Total $100 for two knives? Sure, why not. Sometime in the next few days, once taxes hit, I'm going to have to get a sheath for the Longhunter from that other feller. Managed to buy a French with sheath plus the Longhunter in one go from The Man Himself ( ) but the Longhunter wasn't available with sheath from either, so there it is. Still, the sheath is only $30 with shipping, so that'll just come later. I look forward to sharp things. (I'm going to regret spending $100, but what the heck~)

Congrats. That longhunter was a nice looking knife, I can't blame you for picking it up. Considering $100 often can't get you 1 knife of decent quality, $100 for 2 is a pretty good deal.

The Longhunter's too darn big for EDC, but it's sexy enough for a showgirl. Looking forward to getting both.

I have a Longhunter with curly maple scales. It's an awesome knife and looks great next to a tomahawk too!

Good to hear, I do like the curly maple.
I've had a sudden realization: I have no idea where I'm going to put these knives. I'm kind of out of space.

Put them in your pocket. Obviously, you'll have to take others out of your pocket, first - you can put those in your sock drawer.

Nevermind - just remembered that you bought fixed blades... You need to start carrying a pack that you can put them on/in

Don't give me ideas.
Eventually I'll start up a kit. Eventually...
(My pockets are already quite full with the three folders I carry, anyway :x )

Never have seen that one, feel like I should. Don't put it past me to go out like that, though, because I will find a way. (Even if none of those blades really catch my eye as appealing; I've got my own to fill in)

Sadly the movies aren't really that good. Pretty B movie but with a higher budget and taking themselves too serious. If you get a chance to watch them for free, they are ok, but please don't spend money on them. Yes the blades he has aren't really all that good. But the concept, your probably looking in your closet wondering which coat to mod to do that.

FINALLY, the tracking updates. I might even have these knives before I go on vacation next week. Maybe!
Otherwise I'll just have to settle for the Citadel for the trip. Darn.

Got in late last night, well, later than I wanted to, but my knives were waiting for me on my desk. I couldn't really play with them as I had to get straight to bed as 1) Greyhound buses are immensely draining things and 2) I have to work at 6am. Right now it's 5:25 and I should be leaving in the next ten minutes... So, initial impressions would be something like "Wow, these are small." I'm lousy at numeric measurements, so while the blades are certainly adequate in length, I hadn't realized how narrow they both were. They're incredibly lightweight, too; I have to confess, the word "insubstantial" came to mind at one point. That said, though, the quality of construction appears to be quite solid, and while the edges could use some touching-up, they're quite sharp already. The smaller of the two, a "French Trade Knife" came with a sheath which is simple, but effective. It holds the knife well and wears comfortably, but as with my Citadel Trapper, a bit high on the waist for my usual preference. I've adjusted to the Citadel, though, so I figure I'll adjust to this one, too. Next I need to get a sheath for the Longhunter,
