Well, if money was no object then one of these bad boys; www.kultofathena.com/product~item~AF3~name~Albion+Conan+The+Barbarian%3A+Father%27s+Sword.htm That said, if I had that kind of money lying around for buying swords with I could buy several top quality blades. ;D I've always liked the "Izayoi" ninja sword from the Tenchu games, in the CGI movie at the start of Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven (ps2) you get a really detailed look at the sword. It has the standard straight blade and square tsuba but the tsuka looks like it came from a WWII gunto sword, having the kabuto-gane and sarute one would normally see on a military sword. Maybe one day if I have all the bits I need I'll have a crack at putting one together. ;D

Anyone ever read Lord Dunsany's "The King of Elfland's Daughter"? I think Alveric's magic/lightning sword would fun to see made into reality. there's not much description of its physical appearance in the book though... except that its big, with a wide blade, so it'd be a pretty open ended project.
anyway, its a great book if anyone here is interested in fantasy. it was certainly read and appreciated by Tolkien before writting LOTR

Hmm, if anything I'd probably want the Charon's Claw that is owned by Artemis Entreri in the Forgotten Realms Series.
"The sword had a slender, razor-edged, gleaming red blade, its length inscribed with designs of cloaked figures and tall scythes, accentuated by a black blood trough running along its center. Entreri opened his hand enough for the wizard to see the skull-bobbed pommel, with a hilt that appeared like whitened vertebrae. Running from it toward the crosspiece, the hilt was carved to resemble a backbone and rib-cage, and the crosspiece itself resembled a pelvic skeleton, with legs spread out wide and bent back toward the head, so that the wielder's hand fit neatly within the 'bony' boundaries. All of the pommel, hilt and crosspeice was white, like bleached bones—perfectly white, except for the eye sockets of the skull pommel, which seemed like black pits at one moment and flared with red fires the next." — Servant of the Shard
Definitely not a sword I would deem "pretty", but definitely awesome.

Along with the Charon's Claw, I'd probably want the three katanas owned by Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece anime series. Now just to train my jaw muscles to actually use three swords at once...

That would be great but you'd probably have plenty to pick from in his paintings that already exist. I would really rather have one form Louis Royo though but the detail work would be incredably expensive I think.

Oh, a hilt here and a blade there, but they're too busy being weilded by barbarians and the like. The classic The Barbarian has Conan carrying a very interesting knife on his belt. Might be fun to commission that one.

The Sword of Mandorallen from The Belgariad Books It's got a 6 foot blade... scarrry heavy though Heh, that's where I conned my online-alias from - Mandorallen ;D Yeah, his blade would be sweet. Also, Riva's sword... or forget the major nemesis in that series, but his sword was also nuts, its been amlost 10 years since I've read it so I don't recall much of it. bleh Stormbringer from the Elric stories would also be neat. Anyone who's read AsoIaF would know that there's a great number of amazing pieces to be had from there - Longclaw, Ice, Lion's Tooth, etc. Rivenscryer from the Godslayer Chronicles - the thing can kill gods... then there's all those blades from various mythologies... how to choose? lol.
