Kadajs double bladed katana from Final Fantasy. Too bad that as far as I know nobody makes a functional replica. And if they did I probably couldn't afford it.

Well, look at it this way: considering that it wouldn't cut much better then a regular katana for half the weight -due to the whole force distribution issue- functionality isn't really a priority with this design anyway.

I'm not sure if the model I pictured does it, but in some of the reproductions it actually works like did in the movie (i think it did, its been a while). It's actually two swords connected to each other that can come apart making two swords with sort of thin tsukas and half a tsuba each. edit: I just realized that all the "action" in that is the tsuba and tsuka. I might be able to buy a stainless steel model and modify it and switch the blades with a couple cheap musashi blades. Thats going on my "To do when I have the money and motivation" list.

Hm, I'm pretty sure you must be thinking of something different - I don't recall Kadaj ever doing that in Advent Children and I did watch that movie several times.

I don't recal it either. What worries me is that from the picture it doesn't really look like either of those lades have any tangs at all. How would you even manage to make a sword like that without the tangs amking the grip far too wide and blocky?

Ok, maybe it wasn't in the movie, it was from here when I was searching for the sword. www.battlegearinc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=NTC-K-776But still, if I could come up with some kind of locking mechanism to keep the two together and release them to separate the blades... that would be a badass sword. ;D

How would you even manage to make a sword like that without the tangs amking the grip far too wide and blocky? Rivet the tangs to the sides of a central wooden slab. Kinda like a messer hilt, except completely backwards. Alternatively, make tangs that don't align with the blade, but rather angle off at the side and are pressed together in the hilt. It would have a shape similar to a tuning fork, if you will. It would probably be a structural nightmare to make, though.

I suppose it could be called Fantasy, But I would love to get my hands on Afro's Sword, From Afro Samurai. (I know there are Replicas, Functional, too, But they don't cut it for me. The colors are off, The tsuka isn't exact either. The wrapping looks poor. I could go on.)

I'd love to have Ardeth Bay's yataghan from "The Mummy Returns." It was such a cool weapon, used by such a cool character, yet you only ever got glimpses of it. I wonder what it would look like in all its glory.
Wait...
Hold that thought......

Those swords are truly beautiful. I think that the more I see them, the more I like them. I looked at the picture before I read what you typed, and I thought that the Atlantean swords were made by Brother Banzai.

hmm, can't remember if I posted this but; So sexy and if balanced correctly would handle beautifully, the blade reminds me a little of Altair's last sword.

Good point there. I'd like Altair's last sword. I'm not normally a fan of curved blades, but that sword looks really good.

the only think I would change about it is giving it a simple d-guard or something, the sheer cutting power of that thing if balanced correctly would be amazing.

No Ron Cobb did all the design for them and it was Tim Hucthausen and Jody Samsom who made them. Jody was responsible for making of the blades and sculpting the Elk skull gaurd and hooves pommel for the Father's swords. For me the most beautiful sword ever created. Jonathan i know what you mean BB and Brenno did really good work with those swords. Wish i could have one. It was good to see the Beastmaster's sword here. I loved that film and sword.

Give me Gurthang, the black sword of Turin, from Tolkeins tale. I think the nearest existing equivalent would be Darkswords Black Knight, but I'd expect the Iron of Death to be a two-hander!

Conan's Father's sword is the one on the left (well one of those without the bolster on the ricasso) right? If so, I think I like that one better of the two.
sneakypete, MRL made a good looking, but flimsy, replica of Gurthang and called it Blacksword- which is what it means in Quenya anyways; Odingaard handled it and said it was crap, basically.
