Hmm, has there ever been a reproduction of Gryffindor's Sword from Harry Potter?

I would however love to be strong enough to wield it, but even then I wouldn't get it. Imagine being that strong and having a standard longsword, you wouldn't even see the blade move.
There are a whole mess of warhammer fantasy weapons that I would love to see realised in steel.

Yes, a silver longsword would be a nice replica as well.

Hmm, has there ever been a reproduction of Gryffindor's Sword from Harry Potter? There was, a wallhanger version by Noble Collection, which then spawned the numerous copies, some decent, others not, of Godric Gryffindor's sword. I bought one for my sister...its like a really long stilletto! Very thin blade, but overall its like 34" in length (whole sword). Jon, you did spell it right, that Akaviri katana was pretty powerful for the beginning...

actually i was joking about the berserk sword. it would be hilarious to watch someone try to pick it up. hm... actually, i think id want one just for that reason. lol actually the sword i'd want isn't really a fantasy sword. its a historical one, the sword of goujian. i mean, if i could have that remade of carbon steel and functional... itd be amazing. it's such a beautiful sword. too bad its made of bronze. or a replica of the kusanagi-no-tsurugi, cept no one knows what it looks like. i envision it to be similar to the sword of goujian for some reason. actually, forget that. give me the actual kusanagi. i want to control wind.

Too soft and non functional If it were 100% I'd agree; but you could lace elements of silver during the forging process that wouldn't be detrimental. Any bladesmiths out there want to weigh in?

I think he's refering to the "silver longsword" from Oblivion, which is a pretty nice looking sword, and would still look good made out of steel.

Yes, that is what I meant - made out of steel, but crafted to the same specifications and engravings as the silver longsword from Oblivion. I might not know a whole lot about swords, but I'm not stupid.

Heh, I was reading some forum for a forge a while ago and someone wanted a replica of the sword on the Zelda II cartridge made entirely out of silver. The smith basically found a polite way to say "you're stupid, go away."

I would have done it if I was the smith. It would be easy money. I would just tell the guy that it would cost a lot and he wouldn't be able to hit anything with it.

It is a katana sword from the Brent Weeks Night Angel Trilogy.

Glad you said so, otherwise I would've thought you were commenting on Jon's earlier post about doing a sword in silver anyway as a commission...because the dummy would be unhappy with a 100% silver sword that would be really soft. Retribution...for being so dumb.
LOL
I just read up on those books...the class of 'wetboy' worships the god of blood, semen and wine, right? Interesting...

Someone should get Brendan to make them a silver longsword, except with no silver.

They are great books, but not for the kids. Everything a fantasy reader needs.

Man It took me forever to get through the 23 pages. There are some really nice swords posted, and some I'll probably never get the point of . Anyway here's my entry into this discussion. www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/late/sword-lady-vivamus.htmMy facination with swords started as a 10 year old reading Heinlein's Glory Road. Along with other books like the Gor books by John Norman, and many others. But always coming back to my Lady Vivamus. And now Five kids and a mortgage later I find her for real.........Dang It's okay I can at least look at her now, and it is all good ;D

Arthas's sword from Blizzard's Warcraft series would be quite cool to see irl. Not that it'd be functional or easy to make ( like, it has some glowing fog like effects ). It'd be god damn heavy for sure ( even thought in terms of size i doubt it's longer than 1,5h or 2h sword ). Here ya go, Arthas and his little friend;) Decided to also add this one^^ "Hail to the king, baby!" Your wish has been granted epicweapons.com/products/frostmourne/AS for me personally, I would like a modified version of Genesis's sword from Final Fantasy Crisis Core. I would simply change the blade for something more functional and single edged. Maybe a cutlass-style blade.
