Well the Emperor Katana arrived with me today . It was a gift from a relative and whilst I have not had the time to give it a proper look or full inspection (removing tsuka etc) I am pleasantly surprised thus far after about 5 minutes with it . I say this with some reservation thus far as ill be able to give it a better look tomorrow in the day light ,but thus far ill say this much ,it feels good in hand , the wrap is super tight ,fittings look good ,saya finish is good with nice rayskin detailing and the blade has a nice hamon and subtle folded pattern to it ,the Rayskin even had some nice large nodes on it .Ill have to take some better pics of it tomorrow in the day light as its difficult to capture the hamon and blade details indoors . So ill get up some more pics tomorrow sometime and hopefully a review later on in the week .Also bear in mind both blades still have their shipping oil/wax on them , ill give them a proper clean before taking some more pics tomorrow . Some quick pics (Emperor at the Top):

Looks like to much Bling for me... not sure if one should cut with it, or wear it around the neck.

What about any interesting geometry features? High shinogi, kissaki geometry, niku, crispness of the lines? Do you think it justifies its price for what it gives rather than what it promises or looks like?

Ill be getting in to more details with the review ,i will say the blade has more presence than the Hanwei Bushido .As for pricing ,well i find pricing to be very subjective as my good value might not be the next persons good value when it comes to swords for example . Iv not reached a personal opinion re the value for money on this one as yet as iv honestly not spent enough time with it ,but will put something down on the review . I try and keep an open mind when reviewing my swords and thats what I am doing with this one . For me though the ultimate test would be should i get another of their katana in the future as then ill be able to get a good idea of the QC .Its always difficult to make a sole judgement on a brand on just one sword as you could always receive a lemon or alternatively receive a very good one and then receive 2 lemons later for example .So far on this particular one that iv received well lets just say Im liking it alot more than I thought I would and that is a very good thing .

What is the handle like on the emperor? I prefer the thicker handles like on a Hanwei sword. It looks kinda thin

I get your point SwordFan, and actually it would be wrong to make a single sword represent the entirety of a production brand, for good or bad. I think the blade may be very well designed, but there are a few things still bothering me about it.
In your review could you cover the tsuka alignment with the blade?
