Oh yeah, I've seen this guy around before but never thought much of it. Now that I see how it actually works, I might just snag one for giggles. Especially for $5.

I keep telling myself to buy one of these, but I keep thinking how awful it would be if I forgot it was still in my wallet when I tried to board a plane...
Still want one, and know several friends I'd give one.

That's awesome, thanks for the tip! I too just ordered three of them, at $4 each it was just too good to resist one for me, the other two will make awesome christmas gifts. I bet my father will like this, he's a bit of a utility freak and already owns a couple of discrete tools (among other things, he's got a knife which folds away into something that looks like a key which then snaps into your normal key ring) but he hasn't got one of these!

dx has those key knives too. seriously, they have sooo much knick knack stuff. I like their magnesium fire starter sparkers and have bought many for myself (they're kinda all over the house in various drawers) and as gifts. lots of phone & computer accessories like screen protactors and cooling fans, usb plug in crap, sd cards which I verified are legit... the list goes on. I know I sound like I work for them lol; I don't. I just like loads of crap for cheap

Just got off the phone with my brother, a police officer, he checked out about these knives and all parties agreed they would be illegal. Considered prohibited because they appear to be an innocuous item, and in fact is a weapon. Turns out it's illegal to pretend to be something else when you are a knife. You could try to argue about it if you were ever found with one, but it's not worth the trouble, nor is it worth being charged over a $5 knife that looks like a credit card. That's his take and I see his point; if you're stopped and checked by an officer they'd not be pleased about it. My bro pointed out that he'll be on the lookout for these now when someone is getting their ID out. A knife like this could actually give you more trouble than wearing a bowie- 'cause that's not hiding it.

Good job tippin' 'em off, man. Ya rat.
Eh, there are so many card-type muiltitools etc. commercially available, I'm sure the manufacturers already checked into the legalities. Then again, most knife laws are 1) regional 2) open to interpretation.
That is to say, while your brother there may see it and think "concealed weapon," most wouldn't blink too hard at it. It's just a different take on a pocketknife, and in most jurisdictions as long as they're not automatic, and below a certain size, they're fine wherever you keep them.
I've gotten mixed answers on what qualifies as "concealed" here in VA, but the consensus is as long as the blade is <3.5" and/or has a pocket clip, it's just a pocketknife, whether its in your front pocket, back pocket, wallet, or shoe. Anything bigger either must have a visible pocket clip or be worn visibly on the body. Of course, this is just VA. Other states, principalities, countries, whatever surely differ.
Just don't do anything stupid while carrying a knife; even if it's the tiniest Swiss Army model on your keyring they'll get you just the same as a 20" D-guard bowie they found in your boot, as long as you give them a reason. Conversely, walk around with that bowie in your boot all day and nobody will bat an eye at you until you pull it out.
Nevertheless, something one should consider when purchasing most any knife. Remember kids, no matter what our thoughts, knives aren't tools; they're DEADLY WEAPONS OF CHAOS AND DISORDER.
