Thet's the rub right there! Fwiw I agree with all you said, but I felt I should give the perspective my brother offered. When talking with him I contested what he was saying with similar comments as you made and he also agreed it's open to interpretation. But as you suggest in the line I quoted, we don't get to make that interpretation.

Exactly. Which is why I always stick with "Oh, shoot. I'm sorry, officer; I looked up all the laws I thought seemed applicable and didn't see anything about that anywhere. Honestly it never even occurred to me." and hope I get off with a warning, maybe confiscation. Still, one of these is still a nifty gadget to keep on your desk.
Sort of like a few months back when I was carrying my new fixed blade around while visiting family in PA, a cousin later pulls me aside to inform me that PA law regulates length of fixed blade knives to 6" overall (my knife almost met this with just the blade), so I spend the rest of the weekend without. Took two hours at a Chinese buffet for him to tell me this, and nobody else had said a word. I later looked up state, county, and city regs on the subject and found no such clause.
Always depends who you ask.

I find that law enforcement, at least ours, doesn't keep up with changes in the law. For example, my cop buddies were debating whether or not Walmart was a "public gathering ", in order to determine whether or not concealed weapons could be carried there. The funny thing is that the public gathering clause was done away with in 2009.
