Wow. That is a really nice sword. I don't normally like guards that are shaped like that but it really looks good on this sword.
Nice acquisition there Shootermike!!

Pretty sweet swords, the blades looks really tough and sharp and I like the (note:I don't know what this is called on a medievil sword so you don't have to call me on it)the thing that seperates the sword and handle.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. And JP, I will definitely have some cutting video to show soon. Man I have so much I want to do with postings and so little time to actually get it done! ![:-/](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Pretty sweet swords, the blades looks really tough and sharp and I like the (note:I don't know what this is called on a medievil sword so you don't have to call me on it)the thing that seperates the sword and handle. Ah yes...the S-shaped cross guard. I wasn't very keen on them until I got this sword. I didn't know it had and S-shaped guard when I bought it (sight unseen after talking to Gus about some swords on the phone). But it is really growing on me. So much so, that I am now considering it on other longswords.

There isn't a ban on <$300 swords of course, but we need to rememer the theme of the site. However (and it was me who reviewed that albion, obviously ;D) it it were me'd I review because even higher end reviews help a lot.

I am thinking this one will be a good "comparison review" candidate for pairing with my Hanwei Edward III. They aren't the same type but they are close in size and similar in handling/cutting capability. So you may see this sword again in that context.

so call me an idiot, but... is the handle wrapped in wire cord? and is that less/equally/more comfortable than a leather or cloth covering?

It looks like leather over cord (fabric of some sort, probably not metal) to me. It should be pretty comfy and provide an exceptional grip. ![;)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Mike, that's one of the most "businesslike" swords I've seen in a good while. It practically screams, "Don't &%$# with me!" ![8-)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

It has been cord wrapped during curing for aesthetics. CS76CS did a great how-to post here that explains how it's done, if you're interested. It really helps you understand what it is like in person to see how it's built.

I'm trying to learn more about Gus' swords. I find them beautiful and am amazed by the weights they state on them. Apparently the blades are first class and durable too.
Your idea of doing a comparo with a Hanwei and maybe a comparable G2 would be a great segway to posting a review on this forum. I'd love to see that please. If you put it on another forum, a link would be good. Please.
