Albion is like the methadone of the sword world... It is supposed to cure the addiction for some, so they say, but it ends up just addicting you to it. lol.

LOL. That's like trying to cure a heroin addiction with REALLY good heroin!

That's essentially what methadone is... And what I think buying an albion to end a collection is. lol.
Mark, man.. You outdid yourself on this one. The pictures may seem superfluous to some, but they highlight parts of the sword i've noticed myself always wondering about in other reviews. And you do a good job of keeping what could otherwise be a very boring read[some places reviews are like the worst history books i've read] noticeably more interesting and tolerable.

Its a very impressive sword... as I always knew it would be... but I just can't wrap my mind around the price. I bought 5 Odinblade Longship line swords for less then the price of one Albion Svante. 5. All 4 of my custom Fable Blades together cost less then one Albion Svante. I bought an Albion Munich, Regent, and C/F Austrian Warsword once for less then the price of one Svante. Just too much Sticker Shock on that price... as much as I think the sword is impressive... its just not impressive enough to justify that huge price-tag to me.

You can say this about that price, though... it's probably worth it a little more to most people than, say, an Angel Blades sword would be. This is the next best thing to getting a sword personally hand-made by Peter Johnsson.
I do agree that it's definitely on the high end of the scale, though, and I'd only ever get one secondhand (or third-, or fourth-, or fifth-...). Be worth it to have one, though.
Beautiful sword and a great review, Marc!

I would had thought that for the price, they could have supplied the small little figurines of saints that fit into the pommel. Now that would had been nice.

I agree with you. In my mind, the only way to justify buying this sword is if you're a fan of the original piece. This is as close as it gets. Kind of like buying a Morgan instead of a Ferrari. You must know exactly what you want to truly appreciate it. If not, it's just a car with a wooden frame (or a 4 pound sword with 33 inch blade hehehe).
