Got this today in the mail. Nasty chopper. You cut on one side and do serious damage with the spikes on both sides...lol

The hammer looks cool -- more accurate weight and a review is listed on Kult of Athena.
A pet peeve of mine though -- I cannot abide a perfectly round grip on a weapon like this. It makes it too hard to "feel" the weapon's alignment if it should rotate a bit or shift in your grip. Same for axes and swords.
Say No to cylindrical grips!

Don't forget the promo code SBGWEB for that additional 10% off Is that code supposed to work on the 'deal of the day'? When I try, it says, "Sorry, this coupon cannot be combined with other offers." Regardless of that, thank you both for the continual heads-up of good stuff

I have the older model which looks about the same except for the basket. Older one is plain (shiny) steel put together with rivets. While the rivets are not historical, really like the sword.

Nice looking sword and I was mulling it around in my mind. The blade appears thicker than the norm for Windlass, which I like. However the PoB at 11” decided it for me. 11”?

Aye, it is a nice looking sword; I like schiavonas. Very tempting. The site certainly didn't let me use the code though, and I did stop just short of actually paying. Maybe I did something wrong but I tried twice. 11" POB though??? I hadn't spotted that. I wonder if it's a mistake. All that metal at the hilt surely should bring it back much further than 11" even if the blade isn't distally tapered much. There are some favourable comments here: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/50645/new-windlass-blades-on-mrlAnyway, I worked out the landed cost here, and it comes to £250 - not so much a bargain anymore unfortunately. I'll let it go

If you spend $200 or more MRL adds a "free shipping" code to your order and until you remove it, you won't be able to add the SBG code. If you get the sharpened version you'll save a little extra with SBG vs free shipping.
Also, I didn't notice the 11" PoB...when I read the stats in my pre-coffee daze I thought it said PoB was 4"...I hope that's a typo! The few comments I've read all mention how well it balances, I can't imagine it would with an actual PoB that far out!

Just ordered mine. Always wanted a schiavona, but never got one. I do have a Hanwei basket-hilt sword; I imagine they'll be similar, though I do hope the shiavona is a little better balanced.
Now, if only MRL would get that Sword of St. Casilda back in stock!

lovely looking piece but that pob is 11 inches from hilt? that seems a bit much especially with the large basket guard

I really think that must be a mistake. I hope I'm right (not that I'm getting one ).

That POB has to be a typo. That would put it 1/3 of the way down the blade towards the tip, and with all that steel in the hilt, and a total weight under three pounds...it just doesn't make sense. Even Deepeeka can't unbalance them that badly.
