OK this must have just come out. But I like it alot. Pretty affordable. www.edgefair.com/prod_Detail.aspx?id=SH2456I am picking this up my next paycheck. Does Kult of Athena still do bussiness with Chris Cutlery and Hanwei? KoA alway seem to be low or no stock on those two brands. I am hoping KoA get in the new sword for a little cheaper.

KoA won't get this sword, unfortunately. As it says, it's an Edge Fair exclusive, so nobody else will be stocking it. Which is rather a shame, 'cause their Kai Tanto is simply gorgeous.

EDIT/CORRECTION: I have been politely corrected by someone who knows better, quote:
Looks like a drawing to me. Hanwei sometimes uses drawings of their new swords if they don't have it made yet. Cold steel does this too. I wonder if it's in production yet?
Forgot to say- I like it though!

EDIT/CORRECTION: bpouge has set me straight on my incorect guess, see quote:
Good stuff. I still think they are using the original art for it- for example most sites still have the drawing of the tac katana as their picture even though that sword is now in producton and there are real examples to take pictures of.

Thats a shame cause that's a beautiful sword. I love the blade. You know they would sell a lot of them.

That's what I thought. I'm just not digging the price tag on it.

Yeah man I cant see spending that kind of cash on a sword. I love the Albions but see so many for sale and the loss they take....

Just a quick note to say we don't *ever* do this. We had a graphics guy working for us that got a little photoshop-happy at times and would make things appear too much like a rendering for my liking. Besides, if we showed the original drawings it would be in pencil... we don't have any of that fancy computer drawn stuff around here Oh, and you guys are right, the Kai Tanto is pretty spectacular. That is where I pick mine up at. Let someone else pay the asking price and wait until they pop up on the forums.

Blake,
Will a version of this sword make it to the main vendors?

Oh wow, this viking sword could be the one for me!!! However it seems that I may be out of luck due to this being exclusive to them along with them not seeming to ship to the UK.
Bugger!

Thank you for setting me straight on this, I'm going to ammend my other post. My mistake, sorry- but it sure does look 'shopped' a lot. What about the tac katana? Why is the saya so darn long in the first released pic of it when it was on preorder? old pic: new pic:

No worries! I fixed the Tac Katana awhile back (I actually hadn't noticed how off it was until someone brought it up on this forum!) After reading about it we pulled one so we could get the proportions correct: But if there are vendors that used the original image it will probably not have been updated on their site... Blake

They often ('They' being almost every sword manufacturer including SLOs) Will take a picture of the sheath and the sword separately then put the two images together. I remember when I was younger being surprised at some of the swords pictured with their scabbards, because often times it would portray the blade being many inches longer or shorter than the scabbard.
Or, Hanwei made the scabbard to long for the prototype run. They have been known to make their scabbards much longer than the blade.

looks like you edited while I was writing... Basically it comes down to this: With prototypes from Hanwei we sometimes change things. The original saya needed some changes, so when we got the updated prototype in the saya alone was photographed, then scaled down badly. That threw the proportions off but no one noticed until it was published online. Shortcuts always get you in the end... Blake
