This Viking sword looks pretty good. Decent specs. too. Definitely interested in it.
Blake is the pommel threaded or peened? Any way to get some better pics of the sword? In particular the pommel. I'm a little worried what the pommel might look like around the peen. Both my H/T Viking and Norman were badly damaged from hammer marks around the peen.

Can anybody confirm if the sword is peened? Would be good if we could get a photo of this as the tinker Viking and practical Viking have awful been jobs.
looking at this sword the fittings look similar to the practical Viking. I think if I manage to get this sword I will put in some wires inbetween the lobes on the pommel.

For those living in a non UPS place: Have you tried accessUSA? The SBG site sent me there, and I have been very happy with it. You basically get an adress in florida, and DHL picks it up and sends it to your home adress. The info on SBG is a little dated, I only paid a 10$ startup fee for basic services. www.sword-buyers-guide.com/buy-swords.html

We have a service similar to this for us in Ontario- you sign up with a company in Detriot and they have whatever you want shipped to their US address, they sign for and hold the item for you to pick up. Useful for seller who only ship to USA.

Is it me or does the tip of the blade appear to have hexagonal geometry instead of lenticular? I could be seeing things, though...

Mmm I noticed this too. It's really hard to tell due to the excessive Photoshopping but the tip looks just like that which is found on the godfred. I.e very un historical.

Definitely do a review of it. I'm about to order my first viking and I'm think it'll either be this one or the HT Viking.

Hye Guys. OK I just got the sword. Quick review, and I will do a better one tomorrow with pics. First I want to say I dont know much about swords. Pretty new at this and I am still learning. Its an OK sword I think. I like the Tinker Viking better.
Packaging was good. Nice scabbard, nothing fancy but functional and good fit. The sword itself is pretty nice but small in my opinion compared to the Tinker Viking but, this one is better balanced and easy to swing. Good fittings and furniture on the sword.
I checked out the blade its was meh for sharpness and came with a burr close to the blade top/tip area. I used the leather stop on my 1X30. Just a couple of swipes. It cleaned up the burrs. Kinda wish there was more blade presence. Blade is thin. I would have liked a little wider blade.
I am tired and its getting late so I wanted to do a quick cut. One seltzer water bottle, but it cut pretty clean right in half. Very managable sword and well balanced.
Someone mentioned the peening. Pretty bad I think. Agiain I will take pics. Then you guys can decide.
I plan on sharpening it tomorrow. Along with my beater Tinker bastard sword. Will practice shapening the Bastard and when I get the hang of it I will sharpen this Irish VIking.
I don't think its worth $200.00 and compared to the Tinker I think the Tinker line is better.
Anyway thats my quick review. Take care and good night guys.

Gosh thats surprising.. I thought 200 usd was pretty cheap for this sword.
I have placed my order on hold until you post up some more thoughts and pics of the pommel. Also I had initially thought of the tinker viking but after playing around with my albion viking I wanted something more handy and less of a wrist breaker, plus the curved pommel on the irish looks more comfortable.

I think there is not much chance any Hanwei's own design will be better than similar Tinker's design. If you want a viking sword made by Hanwei, just buy the Tinker one. Unless you want a pattern welded one, than you buy Saxon. But Tinker Viking is the best performer of them.

Looking at the stats, it seems to be around the same kind of length as the godfred with fittings based from the practical viking.
I wouldn't recommend the Saxon for a first time blade as it is really quite heavy. With regards to the tinker viking, some people may prefer not to have the pommel cut into the hand and be more lively, in which case this new irish viking sword looks like a good alternative.
