That's nice to hear man.
BTW I have a Pinuti from TFW, it doesn't feel sharp when gently touched, but it is a very efficient cutter, maybe you Dao is like that too.

Touching up the edge makes it "your" sword in a way that just buying can never do----or at least, that's my opinion. As I mentioned in my yataghan thread, I'm getting more and more interested in TFW. Great to have another option!

Sean has the jian, you could PM him. Next up I plan to buy one or more of the Filipino blades, I've really fallen hard for them, but eventually I'll probably own that jian.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this, my dao would crush a piece of paper, not even tearing it. I tried it out on the box it came in and got a dented box for my troubles. Last night I fired up the belt sander and had at it, now it cleanly cuts paper and almost but not quite shaves. The edge is certainly bottle ready.

Nice man. Happy cutting TFW blades are very good for their price, in my honest opinion.

I've always wondered how they compare to Kris Cutlery (f.e. their espada y daga sets...)

I received the Traditional Filipino Weapons newsletter today, their next sword to come out is going to be a katana. No exact dates, it just says "soon".

Interesting; I know it's technically not Asian, since nobody seems to consider anything Russian as being Asian despite it taking up roughly half the Asian continent, but I'd like to see a shashka from them. The only two on the market are Windlass & Weapon Edge, both of the Red Army style, both without that really sweet handling I've seen demonstrated with civilian models.

Perhaps you should start a poll here and see how many are interested, if the results are impressive you could email them to Ron. It strikes me they could produce a good one, if there was a market for it.

Good point. I'll have to do that, though I don't know the kind of response I'll get, since I only know of two people who would definitely want one (myself and Kilted Cossack).

To be perfectly honest I don't know as I'd want one, but there could be a market out there for it. I sure wouldn't bet the farm on my taste.

Make it three. I like one as well. But I don't care for the Red Army version in current production. Maybe something that celebrate the early Cossack Host like the Don Cossack version; or a Czarist version (either Napoleonic War or Crimean War).
Speaking of something else I like to see TFW produce, a Burmese Dha (or Thai Daab). Hanwei make the Banshee, but I like one that is more traditional.

Did someone say shashka?
Amusingly enough, I'd picked up a Windlass shashka just slightly before my converted Frankenshashka was stolen, and having the weapon in hand confirmed what I'd suspected from the KOA stats. For all the talk about how light, quick and responsive the traditional shashka was/is, the Windlass version uses thicker stock than any of their other sabers, and actually displays pretty darn good distal taper. I still wonder if, as time went by, the light fast civilian shashka turned into more of a traditional military style saber, only with shashka fittings.
But yeah, if TFW could be sweet-talked into a shashka, I'd be all over it.

Well then, it's a little late, on account of me being dead asleep 'till now, but since there's a good response, I'll make a poll about it. EDIT: Here's a link to the poll.

A pair of new blades from TFW, check 'em out. These are two, slender, short sabers. IMO, they vaguely ressemble some hunting swords from the 17th to early 19th century. ... ibars.html

Good call, they DO look like hunting sabers. Handles are a mite phallic, though...

Love the look of the one with the hand-guard... not too sure about the scabbard tho.

Yeah, the open spaces in the scabbards don't look right to me. I would've preferred a ''full'' scabbard.
Still, these are fine-looking swords to me. I wish I had some extra currency to get one.

A short, light, one sided cutting blade is VERY comfortable to me.
