what are people's opinion of the Panabas blade? I've been looking at that for a while now. That and maybe the Punal knife from KC. Just something to switch up my tastes ever so slightly. www.traditionalfilipinoweapons.com/Panabas.htm

The panabas is awesome... had one and I miss it quite a lot. Such a unique weapon.

It really stands alone for it's design and I like the two-handed style better for some reason. Did some reading and was surprised/thrilled to find it compared to the western battle axe in some regards. Talk about a wish-list sword. Yeesh

took the leap and purchased it this morning. Called and talked to them for maybe 5 minutes before-hand. ( Wanted to make sure I can pronounce the weapon names and such correctly  ) Seems like solid customer-service and no nonsense. I'll put something together (either review or pics) when it arrives.

Dirtydan brought the TFW ginunting to Razor's cutting party last Sunday. What's a sweet blade. The craftsmanship is phenomenon. Highly recommend. In fact, I must buy it.

TFW delivers some of the best blades in the sub-300$ sword collectors market. BTW they just made available two new blades ... A celtic-style sword and a gladius ... Weird ... Have a look ; www.traditionalfilipinoweapons.com/

Oh, snap. That gladius is fierce purty.

Agreed on the gladius. Those look awesome. The scabbards don't look too shabby either.

re: the Panabas, when it arrives, tell me honestly that you expected it to be heavier. I can't believe how light and quick that sword is, despite it's unique design and dimensions. I also kinda, sorta wish they made a slightly longer version of the Panabas; perhaps with the blade at 24 inches rather than just under 20. But even so, great sword. Just great. My next bite is going to be the Hagibis knife. Congrats on your purchases. Hope you like!

Funny you should say that. I just ordered a Hagibis this morning, and I blame it on this thread. Attachments:

The Panabas did feel lighter than i pictured, BUT it flows so well. It can be handled one or two hand very easily. Since my last post i also got a Kris #1, loving that blade too. I was thinking about getting the Hagibis knife too. Pretty much an espada y daga set with my Ginunting. So far all purchases from TFW i'm happy with, good quality, fast shipping, and great customer service.

Got my Hagibis yesterday and I love it! Super fast, light and sharp! I'll try to post a short review soon.

good description- It flows... and it does I've read and reread the description of the Panabas about 100 times, and I just shiver at the thought of seeing a line of Panabas-wielding warriors all bearing down on an injured opponent. What a wicked little historical factoid to think about every time I pick it up!

It is one of my favorite large swords in my collection. There aren't too many swords in my collection that I don't absolutely love, but this one has a special home. It's just so smooth for long winding slashing sets.

It is a little heavy. Still very manuverable, but it is meant to be able to slash as well in this design so the steel is quite thick. it weighs more than the Dan Dao.

Just a point of reference, mine came razor sharp. I have only used a little emery paper on it to remove a little rust that appeared from a friend not cleaning it properly after a cut class.

To anyone who got the kukri, could you please post stats and impressions? I need to be able to justify my already made decision.
