First look at the new Hanwei 15th Century. The older Windlass of this class is on the left. Sword has a 35x2 in blade with a CoB 5.5 in above the guard. The grips is 7 in with a 2 in scent stopper pommel which is peened. Gross weight of the blade is 2.9 lbs ( less than the advertised 3.25 ) For the pricepoint this is a very good weapon. I might prefer something a bit lighter, but this is a very believable sword that is useable single handed and very effective with two. More details later. Just wanted to say that, although I'm not a big Hanwei fan, I like what they did here.

Looks, VERY nice for sub-$200. Thanks for the preview, Dave. Looking forward to the rest.

Too long fuller and to little profile taper. It almost looks XIIa-ish. Other than that, a nice sword...

Seconded. This is the only one of the new Hanwei models that I thought looked interesting. I think it screams to be rehilted, though. The blade is quite attractive for the price.

looks like the blade and scabbard of the tinker bastard. I still prefer the windlass model by appearance. can't wait for the review though.

Can't wait for your review. We need more of these side ring hilted bastard swords!
