How many rounds have you put through the rifle with the scoped mounted in this way?
Is there a problem with keeping the rings/scope from sliding forward on the dovetail?
P.S. My Mosin-Nagant came with a red finished stock.

Is this a factory stock? If not, who makes it?

about 500 rounds thorugh it, rock soli never had to readjust, and it doesnt move on the dovetail because it fits snugly in there due to the front "barrel guard" wood piece thng, and against the reciever, it has no room to move. and im using a cheapo 69$ scope both my AKS came with plain unfinished un stained laminate wood stocks and the mosin nagants came with yellow colored shellac'd stocks.

Do you have any close-up photos of the rail/rings?
It would be great to get a sense of how high and how far forward the mount should be for clearance and stability.

I like the bullpup design myself, I know there are alot of people who don't. With a bullpup you've got a compact carbine without the need of any type of folding stock.
Hers is the one on top, If I hadn't of left the lense cover on hers I wouldn't be able to tell.

i just dont like the idea of the bullts going off behind my head...whle its probally no ssue, i see vivid pictures in my mnd of the gun screwing up and sending a round through the back of my head out the reciever instead of in front of my head off towards the safe backstop

Don't know what kind of bullpups you've seen, i've ever seen one where the bullets go off behind your head. All the one's I have the bolt is still in front of your face. I don't worry about it myself, I know the design is safe.

I honestly don't know if you could qualify the P90 as a bull pup. I guess yes, in that the bullets feed from behind the grip/trigger, but the entire magazine lays (lies?) flat along top. So..... yes? However, on the Steyers. How do you like those? I dunno, but for some reason I've never been a fan of the aesthetics on 'em. But, being willing to change my opinion, how do they shoot?

Even with the bad triggers pull I can shoot a group of 1/2inch I know I am happy with it. I own several military type rifles just put the AUGs in because no one else has.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_P90According to Wikipedia the P90 IS indeed of compact bullpup design, however a lot of gun enthusiasts consider it in a class of it's own since the feed isn't located behind the trigger

I've owned a lot of AKs over the years and even built a handful of them. That said I'd never owned an AR till this year and aside from a few minor issues I have to say that if properly tweaked the AR is just as fine (if not a finer) weapons platform as the AK. Yes the AR has tighter tolerances and is a DI system so its a little more prone to fouling and jamming but as was said, keep it well lubed and you should be alright for the most part. I've put nearly 4k rounds through my old AR since I got it and aside from needing a new hammer and trigger its kept on going - and still shoots 1 MOA if I do everything right on my part.
I love the AK platform and I absolutely love how robust it is. As a trunk gun I have an AK chambered in 5.56NATO. That said I couldn't possibly expect to consistently shoot 1 MOA at 100yds with an AK like I could with the AR. They're just not designed for that. I'd be happy if I could shoot a 3-4" group at 100yds consistently with an AK. I've also been able to blow up soda bottles at 225yds with the AR from a bench. I couldn't even begin to consider doing that with an AK.
Now that I have own both platforms I think I'll continue to own both platforms. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks. Each is a great weapons platform. As a SHTF weapon either would do well in my mind as 5.56NATO/.223REM and 7.62x39 are both very readily available and in large quantities as of yet.
If I had to choose - I'd pick the AR. A little less recoil and that means to me less time to get back on target. That means I can be more consistent more quickly. I like that idea - as well as being able to carry more ammo for the same loadout weight. Now if I can get an AR with a reliable gas piston action instead of DI that would be great!
Now talking about Steyr's AUG. That's one NICE rifle. If I could afford one I'd snatch one up right away! Given a choice - well I'd PROBABLY choose the AUG over the AR but I'd have to play with an AUG more than just putting a few hundred rounds through it to really make an educated choice. Anyone willing to loan me their AUG so I can shoot, disassemble, clean and reassemble it?
