Post them up please. A chrome lined 1-9 twist barrel with a Del-Ton light weight parts kit built on an Aero Precision lower with Magpul furniture. Total cost of the build was around $650 and not a single malfunction so far through 250 rounds. My ka-bar is the only serious blade I own so far so it is going to have to do to post pics of a rifle on a sword forum.

WOW Mike! How do you affix such a bayonet as that !?! Even though this photo is poor quality (Film, what can I say  ) I love it the most. It is myself enjoying my Graduation gift from my now father in law, PLAYING WITH A BUNCH OF HIS GUNS! This was a British Lee-Enfield .303, and I was pegging the water jug we set up @ 100 yards with no trouble. Love that gun.

The best photo backdrop I've seen in some time! What is it exactly? It's obviously a tank turret with boom/gun, but I plead ignorance. We stopped by Chiriaco Summit (I-10 CA) a few years back and visited the Patton Museum. They had quite a few rusting hulks my sons could explore.

I am going to guess the M48A1 Patton is the tank in question. Here is a Howa chambered in .223 very nice little rifle, a bit heavy because of the barrel width but it is consistent and comfortable to shoot off of.

What's your varmint load? Commercial or do you load your own?

This piggy spits the 50 grain Sierra Blitzkings at 3400 avg with a 1-12 twist on a load of 24 gr of 4198 with no pressure signs using Rem brass and CCI primers. With no exterior interference it will average a half inch or slightly under @ 100yds on paper "when I do my part... ", it sports a crown and trigger job also. I Have claimed a few pelts with it and rabbit stew on occasion.
A plus for me is this rifle has a rather short throat and tight chamber tolerances compared to some Rems, Savages and Wins I have had in the past but the short magazine box length keeps me from rechambering or rebarreling for heavier or longer bullets, on the flip side is a short jump to the lands while still fitting in the internal magazine fine and staying within SAAMI length specs for interchangeability of ammo with my .223 chambered AR.
I have often thought about going to something like a 6.5-284 Win mag or similar for the long desert stretches but barrel life and the cheap components keep me loyal to my .223. :geek:

A zippy 50gr load! A factory rifle that consistently shoots under 1/2MOA is a fortunate find.
I think interoperability is important, too.
When I moved up to a longer range varmint cartridge, I chose the 243Win. The most accurate and zippiest varmint load I use is a 70gr Nosler BT behind 42.0gr of VARGET at 3560fps. But, for long range targets I prefer the 87gr BTHP at 3200fps. 243 brass is plentiful and rifles chambered for this round abound.
If you are dead set on the 6.5mm bore, then I'd recommend the 260Rem with only marginally slower velocities than the 6.5-284.

Funny you should mention that actually, here is a late 1990's made Rem model 7 chambered in .260 with the unusual 1-9 twist. I received this as a present from my dad prior to him passing and it has a ton of nicks and dents from abounding hunting stories involving elk and deer ventures with nearly every kill being as clean a kill as possible. The external ballistics on the .260 have to be observed to be believed. With it's ballistics coefficient, it truly is an underrated cartridge IMHO This jobber has been bedded, trigger worked, bolt polished in, and crowned and will hold a half inch group for about 10 rounds slow fire until the barrel begins to heat up. Remington rifles will hold amazing group sizes even with the rough factory barrels strangely enough, especially after the basic accuracy concerns have been addressed. Even stranger, I have seen some LTRs and PSSs more consistent with a copper fouled bores so go figure. :? Of course this is only my subjective observation so YMMV. I have found the main concern with the .260 is case capacity, my 160 load is lightly compressed with no pressure signs which is why I think some of the more oddball 6.5 cartridges have found favor over the .260 for specialty long range and varminter concerns.

Remarkable accuracy for such a light weight barrel profile.
My goal for the 260 Scout was acceptable accuracy and velocity. My Nosler 120gr BT with 43.5gr of H414 produces 2775fps!
H414 is a ball powder equivalent of H4350. The latter, which seems ideal for achieving both accuracy and velocity in the 260Rem, is harder to throw and I spend enough time reloading as it is. H4350 is a little faster than 4831, but I wouldn't change anything you do.

What mounting system are you using for the MN 91/30? I've seen a few youtube videos discussing mounts. nutnfancy, a youtube reviewer of knives, guns and gear, used an S&K mount on his with a Millet Red-dot this looks like a viable approach. The following NFP video demo the system. It is a bit "chatty", but a lot of fun: He quotes $40 for the mount, but the price I see is $81 for S&K rings or $71 for Weaver version (you supply the rings).

the mount is already on the gun. all you do is pop out the pins to the iron sights and take it off (might have to pound it due to age/rust) and theres a 3/8 inch doivetail right there. you attatch high rise 3/8 inch scope rings(buy as high as you can find youl need the cl;earance) and mount along eye relief scout scope or pistol scope i got the thing mounted up for 80 bucks. paid 90 for the rifle and 80 for the mount/scope 170 bucks total for a badass sniper rifle EDIT: by the way the stock on all of those rifles was refinished by yours truely they dont come "russian red"

Scout mount uh? I always wondered how good they were for long distance shooting. Not needing a bent bolt is great though. For my m39, I bought a mount from this guy here www.advancedrifleparts.com/ . It's pretty fine. The problem is finding a bent belt without having to import it from the USA. I might just have to buy a cheap one and butcher it.
