Technically with their return policy you could just give it back and order another one- but shipping costs are your loss. They also price match and you could ask about that too

Yeah, I sent them an e-mail. See what happens. I'm definitely not shipping it back to them. Lol. If they so no it's not a huge loss.

I would think they should say no... this sale is factory sponsored... meaning swords they order from Hanwei After Feb are at the new price, so they can pass those savings along. If you bought your sword a week ago... they paid the old price for it... and if they refund you the difference, they LOSE money. Not a smart way to stay open. KoA had no way of knowing Hanwei was going to have this sale when they sold you the sword at the old price... so its not like they knowingly price jacked you. They are as in the dark at the next months sale as we are.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I in no way think KOA wronged me or anything. Couldn't be happier with them. I'm just trying to save a few bucks is all. Like I said, if they say no I'm not gonna get all butthurt.
[EDIT: I gave in and just ordered the EMSHS anyway. I couldn't resist.]

Oh, man. Who knows how long this KoA sale will last? I just might have to jump the shark and grab me a fullered bastard while I can...

Says right in the item description: "This special is only valid while supplies last or until the end of the month, so don't wait."

the deals are very similar in price. I ordered from Wiwi and only saved about $8 from the KOA deal. the trade off is the long shipping time and no tracking number

Well, KOA gave me coupon code for the difference. I used it on a H/T fullered bastard and a Gen2 Viking seax.
Yeah, I already liked KOA, but they're definitely getting all my future business now. Lol. Same as Sean I was fully expecting a "Uh, no, we can't sorry." They did however, give me the same explanation as Sean did on why they couldn't give me an actual refund. I can't really under stand how it's any different for them profit wise. They're still losing 40 bucks somewhere, but I am certainly not going to complain, and like I said they're definitely getting all my future business.

Well, I gave in and got one of the EMSHS from Kult of Athena. I was tempted get a couple more from them but realized I'd much rather have the sword I'm commissioning Brenno at Fable Blades to make me than a bunch of entry level ones no matter how good they are.

I can think of 2 reasons they would prefer store credit to a refund. First, you're more likely to spend even more money when you cash in the credit. Second, giving you store credit insures they do not lose out on the profit margins for any item already sold and gives them a better chance at mantaining profit margins when you spend the credit.
For example: sword 'a' costs them $50, they sell it for $100 = $50 profit. if they give you back $20 cash they just reduced their profit on sword 'a' to $30 and they might not ever see that $20 again. If they give you credit then technically they can say they kept all the $50 profit for sword 'a' and when you spend the $20 they for sure at least get that back and can turn some of it into profit. If you buy something from them that's $20 then some of that is profit again. If you say,, bought another sword 'a' again then they would also make profit even at the new lower sale price since that sale price can only mean sword 'a' now isn't costing them $50 to begin with (as Shadowhowler was explaining).
I'm sure there is a better and simpler way to explain myself but I hope this at least made some sense.

Yeah, makes sense. they aren't gonna get new money, but they're keeping what they already had.
I'm all excited for my swords to come now. Lol. I totally wasn't going to buy any swords for a while, and now I have a new one in my hand and two more on the way. God I'm horrible with money. Lol.

Well then, if the store credit convinced you to buy 2 more swords then yes, they are getting new money.

Well it convinced me to buy a third sword and a seax when I had already ordered a second sword. First one being the H/T Viking I got the other day.
But say, if I had just gotten the seax it would have been essentially free and brought in little to no new revenue for them. However being the dork I am I couldn't resist the fullered bastard for 112 bucks.

actually, like you said, they will definitely be getting more money from you based on great customer service and satisfaction. good business like this keeps companies in business. something I don't see often enough from my neighborhood shops who treat me like I'm coming in for the first time every time and don't appreciate return business and don't have a clue what "good business" even means. I ran out of dog food the other night and all other stores were closed so I wound up in a corner bodega where the price is almost double and didn't have cash on me. I went to use my atm card and they said "oh sorry, there is a minimum of $12 to use your card" I responded with "please, my dog doesn't have anything to eat, I live around the corner and come in here all the time". no go. so I told them that I would never come back and they looked at me with absolutely no expression, they could care less. bad business. most likely I would have spent at least a couple of hundred within a year in their store, now they will get squat from me.

You think you're bad, I've already blown my budget for the year. Lets see, I've already done the following:
Bought a Hanwei Adam Hsu Jian Bought a Hanwei Silver Anniversary Shinto Bought a Del Tin 14th Century Cut and Thrust Sword and a Windlass Mercenary Sword from the classifieds Bought a TAS Mongol Bow, a quiver, 12 classic arrows w/ port oak cedar shafts and field tips Bought a Thumb Ring for use with the Bow Bought a Sherwood Forest Archers Bracer from Ravenswood Leather Bought a Tinker EMSHS In process of Commissioning a Sword from Brenno
God, when the bills get here, I'd better run like hell for the hills if I don't want my wife to flay my skin off and pour salt in the wounds (to be honest, I probably would deserve it, but it sure would hurt like hell anyway).
I guess I really am a swordoholic and need an intervention. That or a place I can hide out until everything blows over.
edited for typos. me no type to gud

The other day I had to get a $20 broken and the closest store was some little bodega. The guy working wouldn't just make change I had to buy something. I expected as much. I chose a $1 pack of gum. the entire shelf of gum I chose from had different flavours of the same brand, each row labeled $1. When I handed him the money he sort of paused, gave me a little look like he was sizing me up and then proceeded to ring in $1.50 (then added the tax). For real? Was he really trying to squeeze 50cents out of me? Really? Would that be the difference he needed to get by this month? I waited for him to make my change and close the tilll then I set him straight and got my 20 back and left.
