How many swords are you planning to buy this year? Are you saving up for that custom piece or just reading the classifieds waiting to pick up a bargain. Have you given yourself a set number or do you just buy whatever takes your fancy. I set myself a limit of ten (one for each of my cats, I know don't ask) swords, daggers or knives, as of today I'm on nine. two have arrived two more on the way as we speak and the rest to arrive thoughout the year. Here is a couple of pictures of the two that have arrived, though far too good for me to have taken them. The dagger is a custom made from an Aussie knife maker( stats and info in the "New Acquisitions" section and a sword I picked up in the "Classified" I will post some more info and stats when I take some pictures of my own. Since I'm new to this I'll try to take it slow, but knowing myself this will be hard.
As for swords, I predict one starter katana, one good backyard cutter en maybe an euro sword after the summer. Knives are a different story. I love knives so there is no saying how many I will buy/recieve this year, probably around 8 or 9.

Sadly I think this year will be new sword-less as I have to save for a new place we're moving into, a new baby girl and dealing with mat leave pay for my wife. I will instead focus on all the customizations I want to do on the existing blades, but that will have to take a seat behind any work required on the new house.

Do you count the custom pieces that were ordered last year but won't be finished until this year. Do you also count custom pieces that order this year but won't be finished until next year?

None. This year will be completely sword-less unless I can find a job (which isn't likely around here).

I've already bought 4 so far this year, plus a Mongol Horse Bow. I'll probably buy another 2 or 3 and some leather armor before the year is out. This year I have a budgeted amount of money I can spend.

As of right now I only want two, and hopefully this year I'll be able to get them.

Hey Student, any sword thats arrives this year is in. My ten is at the moment is four knives, and five swords, two of which are custom. Plus one slot open for if I see something nice (currently nice is a Bugei Old Pine Katana) that is calling to me.

Probably very few if any. I have my eye on quite a few, but I'm getting married in October, so that is where most of the money is going....

One will be arriving this year.
I only PLAN on buying one sword this year, but who knows what deals I'll find in the classifieds.

I'm planning two more Euros, a naval cutlass, and Lord knows how my katana collection will mutate in that time period, so.. Call it four, maybe five. No wait, three! No, I think five. Yeah five feels right. Okay, let's go with four. No wait, the classifieds! Thanks Greg

I find that this is something you just can't plan for. Sure, you can say you're only going to get so many, but then some surprises come along with new models, or you suddenly get the itch for a certain blade type, or someone posts something irresistable in the classifieds and before you know it, you've bought many more than you ever planned for.

I've got two I definitely need to buy for a presentation I do in high schools on the development of the sword. But I only had two on my radar last year and I ended up buying eleven. It's not that I'm an addict or anything. I mean, I can give it up anytime I want. Wait a minute! Is that something pointy over there? Gotta run! Bwahahaha!
