I'll just drop this and then run. I am actually working on a number of guards right now out on the porch, given that the weather has FINALLY cleared up. I'm taking pictures as I go and will post a number of them when I'm done for the day. Hope you all like that, I'll try not to tease too much I promise

Right, so I'm breaking for lunch. These pictures are HUGE. Taking a while to upload...
In the meantime, these are just begun, so don't expect too much, yeah? I've literally just cut them out and haven't done any more shaping, but I put them on top of my H/T bastard to give you some idea of how they might work. Some are kinda small, you could use them on the EMSHS or a Norman instead, but I think a bastard with a smaller guard kind of looks neat.
Hmm, had to cancel upload. Hold on and I'll edit them down to a more manageable size... will edit them into this post, kindly give me a few minutes, thank y'all very much!

Saito, you know, I'm envisioning two different varients of the clenched fist - the Viking pommel calls for a shorter, wider, base than the bastard/GSOW/longsword... eh? I'll try to come up with some illustrations of what I'm talking about.
Sean, you want one - you got it! Glass or steel? OK,OK, I'll try to not make any promises till I've got the product in hand (so to speak...hahahahaha) And, dude...
Now how does one even deal with any statement that starts with that phrase??!?!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha Actually, Sean, I was 235 lbs myself prior to the whole hospital experience - dropped to 194 lbs. Too bad it was all muscle wasting and no loss of gut... I prefer to refer to it as being extra-manly.
JP, thank you for that. Perfect... Striking fear into the hearts of... hahahahaha
Again, Talon, thanks for the Karmas! And you know I'll keep you posted on progress. And another claw vote duely noted. Great detective work on the Hawk Slayer sword - but you can't blame them for the out-of-proportion hand pommel: they had to make room for one hell of a battery to light that gem up like that!
Thanks, Sir!
All Riiiite, Jeff! Looking Good!!! I'm especially digging the Henry V. Now grab that sandpaper!

i am a great fan of upturned hand guards... in particular i like this one you made. with my style, i cannot do certain moves using a euro sword, due to the guard hitting my arm/wrist. this could be just what i am looking for. i would love something like this guard and a narnia peter's sword pommel.

Yessir, right away sir... You owe me the price of a bandage though, my coping saw decided to bite me! JK... I may actually redo the Henry V, I'm not too happy with how the escusson turned out. My jigsaw has this unfortunate slant that I can't eliminate for the life of me. Maple is crazy hard to cut with a coping saw though so I may go for poplar... Tre, glad you like it!

Wow... you lost 40lbs during you layup in the hospital? I've heard how bad hospital food it but gezzz... that is a lot of weight loss bro. My best wishes to you for a speedy recovery... get lots of protein in your diet and less carbs/sugar and try to do VERY light resistance training when you can... little 2-5lb dumbbells or whatever... so you can build back that lost muscle. Ironically... you lost exactly what I'm looking to lose... I'm shooting for 200 and under... but I wanna loss fat not muscle. I'm weight lifting 3 times a week along with a very vigorous cardio regimen.

Yup, Sir, that Henry V is def gonna get made - can't say when - but its on the list. Can't have you barkin' your wrists when you turn to the euro side, Bro! hahahahahaha... no seriously... But I have to draw the line at Thundercats... unh unh, not happening...
Hey Jeff, sorry if I sounded like I was issuing orders or something... that was supposed to be like encouraging, motivational, inspirational... ahhh, sempr!ni, I 'm just glad you finally got off you but and made some sawdust! hahahahahaha... just kidding, your stuff looks great! I use poplar also, much easier to work than maple, for sure. If you can orient the wood correctly, you might be able to actually use that lean in your jigsaw to your advantage. It'd be nice to start out with a cant to the outside on some of your curves, maybe. And, oh yeah, I'll put a couple of band-aids in the mail to you...
Sean, bad as hospital food can be, I would have loved to had gotten a hold of some - I was on strictly intravenous for 2 freaking weeks... and all those fluids kept me plumped up while I was in the hospital, was released at 230. But a couple of days after getting out, whoah boy... I just p!ssed those 40 lbs right out... hahahahahahaha... But I am looking forward to getting back in some kind of shape soon.
Thanks again, Saito. I think its the ears on that wolf, kind of cat-ish... But I've gotta reiterate, guys, no Thundercats coming out of this shop... unh unh... nope...
Hey John, he's got a little time to dig up some scratch before there'll be the wolf in bronze...

I asked Tinker a while ago about the longsword, he answered my email with weights for the pommel/guard from the protoype longsword:
"8-1/2 to 9-1/2 oz. for the pommel should be fine, Guard should weigh 6-10 oz. (this is less critical) -Tinker"
