I just checked the tang on a H/T longsword, and it is threaded M6-1.
The nuts will interchange between a H/T and a VA also. I physically did this and they interchange fine, so the VA series of Atrims are threaded M6-1 also. The only difference is that the H/T nuts are steel, and the VA nuts appear to be aluminum. The VA nuts deform easily, and wil strip if ham handed. Both series have nuts that are broached to accept a 5mm hex key.
My Gus produced Atrims are indeed threaded 1/4-20.
It appears that the foil and epee pommel nuts will work just fine for the H/T series guys, good news for the bare blade purchasers.
I rechecked the nut that I made, and it also is threaded M6-1, I was under the impression that it was a 5mm because it fit the tang. That will teach me to assume eh  I must have been hung up on the 5mm hex key thing.

Well that's good to know the name of those nuts... I was wondering where I would be able to pick some up if I ever got any bare blades. Should they be available at Home Depot, Lowes, places like that, or would I have to look somewhere a little more specialized?

The epee pommel nuts are available online at the links I posted earlier as well as other fencing equipment suppliers.
The coupler nuts like I made a pommel nut from should be available at any hardware store that has a decent selection of fasteners. Grainger, Fastenal and other retailers like them will have them definitely, but I do not know if you have to buy a minimum ammount. Look at Lowes in the pull out bins they have, where the specialty fasteners and the like are for sale.
To be honest, it is probably better to just buy a couple of the fencing pommel nuts, and forego the time trying to make one. The coupler nuts you will find commonly available will be hex shaped and have to be turned or ground to round and then broached for a hex key.

I'm surprised no one put in a vote for a curved guard similar to the borderwatch or malatesta.
I think they look good, and they work with fishtail or scent stopper pommels very well.
I really like the 4th pommel down in Elheru Aran's sketches. Would look sweet on a longsword or bastard sword blade I think.

Glad people are liking my sketches...
It would be kind of cool if John Greybeard could throw in a pommel nut with each to ensure the fit is right, but it's understandable if he decides not to do that. It would help us out a little, but right now I'm just glad enough that these various options are out there right now... hope he recovers soon from whatever happened to him!

What about a Irish Ring Pommel and a Oakeshott Type 1 Guard for the EMSHS.

A ring pommel would be a nice option, I agree. Here's a picture of a sketch I made-- Something like that would work nicely, I think. With a Viking or Norman blade, you want to watch it though-- don't want the pommel to be so large that the grip has to be too short. Depends on how large of a ring you get, but you have to remember that the tang has to go all the way through them; with a solid pommel, just the thread goes through and a bit of the tang, so you just have to recess a hole for the nut. With a ring pommel, visually having the thread showing wouldn't be desirable, and with a non-threaded tang like those two swords, you may end up with a pretty short grip if you don't have a small or squished ring...

How do you think that it would work on a EMSHS blade. I think that it would look really cool with a cruciform guard but not that you say how hard it would be Elheru I do not know if it would be worth it.

It could work fine, all it depends on is how large the ring pommel is, really. That's what it comes down to.

Just gonna put this in here real quick. If anyone has replaced their GSOW pommel, I'd be interested in purchasing it. PM me if you happen to have one lying around.
