Oh yeah, Powning is an artist. Everything the man produces is insanely high-end heirloom-level stuff. Though, that particular one is by far my favourite.
I hear you. I favour sabers and backswords in general before double edged swords, but I admit I've never handled a viking sword. Not that I wouldn't appriciate the chance if it presented itself. Been kinda sort of interested in a single-edged viking sword on occasion, as a matter of fact.
(Powning has had a couple of those as well, by the way.)

Hi Federico. Thanks for the vote! I have to agree that is possibly my most beautiful piece to date, possibly... I'm a big Jake Powning fan too and would vote his Vardhllokur as one of my faves of his pieces too. Here are the pics you were looking for. My site is hotlink protected so they needed to be hosted:

Spectacular piece, that one, Brenno. Still my favorite fableblade. I'd like to submit this piece by Peter Johnsson (from his personal workshop, not Albion) as one of the best-looking swords in the world. It's his interpretation of the "Vorpal Sword" of the hero in the poem "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll. It draws inspiration from some historical examples, but is meant to be Johnsson's take on a "contemporary" sword design and not to reproduce a type from history. Snicker-snack.

*drool* That sword is right up my alley. Elegant ring hilt, decorative without being overly ornate or impractical, and as far as I can tell from pictures, the workmanship is excellent. I would LOVE to own a sword like that.

Thanks John. I loved it and it was hard to part with. It was a type that burned in my mind for ages and felt so good to finally make it, and the design blossomed as I made it.
Luna that is PJ certainly a beauty. I've long admired the overall aesthetic of it too.

Hey Brenno, I hadn't noticed my links were dead! Thanks for fixing that for me. And yeah, your Caspian-X is fantastic. Not overtly decorated but rather simple, elegant and classy. I was wondering what was the historical inspiration behind it. I mean, it looks like a mix of a rapier and a longsword. As for Gregory de Lausnay's swords, they're very nice too. I sometimes find that his stuff is too hmmm opulent though, but he works really well ---> viewtopic.php?f=15&t=807

I've got to post the SBG Leafblade designed by Lunaman and crafted by BKS. It's just too awesome looking to be overlooked.

For me, beyond any shadow of a doubt, it has to be Brenno's Even Kings Die! That is the loveliest piece of steel I have ever seen!

I so agree... You know that its like 46'' long ? You'd never tell by watching those pictures, it looks like a 36-40 max inches long. The blade must be friggin wide at the base. Regarding Powning's work.. i mean.. any of his swords can be part of this thread, he's simply in another league concerning details and craftmanship. Did i ever told you guys how much i like type XX's ? Did i ever told you why ? Here's why :

Best looking sword? The Jody Samson katana: Simplicity and elegance in form, right there. But then, I'll admit I'm a fan of almost anything Jody Samson made. --Edward

Winner winner chicken dinner! WOW! Not at all a fan of the blade profile, but that hilt is magnificent. The faceting on the pommel alone is just incredible. I'd love to see something of that style as a side-sword.
