How do you feel about that Han sword and the Windlass Raptor? Those two in particular seem to be the most personally appealing, and I'm trying to decide on a good first real sword.

The Han sword is pretty decent. i got it from VA as a close out so i don't think you can get it any more other than the secondary market.
The Raptor sword is a nice fantasy sword. the balance is decent and when sharpened is a good cutter. If you catch it right, sometimes MRL has it as their deal of the day and you can get it for half off and then the 10% SBG discount.

Couple of new additions. I picked up the Windlass heron Marked Sword and Matt's dagger. Mainly got them because I'm a huge fan of the series.

You know, I dunno why it took me this long to get around to it, but I've been meaning to ask after the Hanwei Seax. In pictures, it looks double edged with a vague hexagonal cross-section, yet I've never heard this mentioned anywhere, so, is it?

Just for fun (also being a huge fan of the series) I checked out the heron mark sword on museumreplicas.com but I couldn't find Matt's dagger - where did you get that bad boy from?

vincent The blade is double edged and technically hexagonal in shape but it is so gentle a transition I'd call it more of an oval. zoe I got the dagger from Bruce Brookhart who used to do a lot of design work for Windlass. Recently he has been selling off some of his collection of swords. Here is the link to his sale pages: www.brookhartdesigns.com/Collection_For_Sale.htmlThat was the first time I had seen the dagger in years. I imagine it was a very limited run or it sold out several years ago.

It's been over 12 years now.
Sorry, already have two kids and that's going to bankrupt me when they get older. =)

Some new additions. First is a VA Signature Edition Knights Templar I had done in oxblood and had "hoc Signo Vinces" Latin for You will conquer by this sign engraved in the fuller on both sides. I need to get some better pics but that will have to wait until I can replace my camera. Next is a Deepaka Germn Dagger I picked up. I plan to blacken the furniture and do a wire wrap on the grip: I finally got around to do a scabbard for the VA Han Sword I got on closeout. It was missing a scabbard but Sonny sent it in a bare wood one that was slightly warped to protect it. I sanded it down, stained it, added leather cord wrap in a couple spots and some Jade Dragons. I thought it turned out fairly well. Close ups of the wraps I also picked a fantasy based leather helm that will be part of one of my soft kits: and finally a set of leather bracers:

Nice Collection , I really like the blade shape on your Morrigan's Talon by Fable Blades , would love to have something made with a similar blade profile .

Latest Couple of Acquisitions: Windlass poignard. surprisingly nice and well balanced: Pair of throwing axes. Been messing around with learning to throw axes. I have lot of bad habits to unlearn from throwing playing cards, knives etc. I have to stop trying to flick my wrist at the end. When I don't I can hit my targets pretty well, if I don't....its not pretty. Some artwork I commisioned from my tattoo artist Andres de la Concha that I need to find that someone can engrave on one of my katanas. His work is very good. His portfolio is here if anyone is interested: www.arsenaltattoo.com/main.html Finally a picture of me and the kids at the Texas Ren Fest last November

Just realized I haven't updated this thread in almost three years. I have a ton of stuff I need to add in in the next few days. Time flies when your kids are in grade school and almost every night is some activity and every weekend tons of games, parties, school events etc. Just 8 more years before the youngest is off to college and I get some of my time back. LOL
