Got down to the foundry today and got the fittings all patina-ed up. I wanted to let them dry out over night before I put them on the blade permanently. That'll be tomorrow's job - peening guard and pommel. The photos look great! *Drooling over the nearly finished sword*. --Edward

Thank you again Sean... but I’m a little concerned where this is heading - I’m not sure I’m going to tell you when the thing is finished... when we reach the “happy ending” so to speak... Ahahahahahahaha
Thanks Rob - trying not to think about sending my baby beast away... sniff, sniff....
Thank you V-man!
Thanks Edward! Me too - I have to keep sanding off the damn rust spots... hahahahaSo I finished off the langette ends today. So nice having access to a TIG welder! This really locks the langettes (and the guard itself) in place. before:Attachments:

Hot damn that looks good!! Every time i see these blades it makes me envious of all those on the list. That blade is drop dead sexy, especially given the original condition. One hell of a craftsman you are Mr.Greybeard, hats off to you.

pictures, we need pictures, big enough for computer wallpaper ! then people will exclaim "who made that beautiful sword!" we can exclaim "'tis the work of the artisan John Greybeard!" and thee will be forever remembered, your work will be spoken of in hushed tones down through the ages.

so TaDaaaaa... one more Warrior is finally ready to leave the cavernous subterranean workshop of Castle Greybeard! Atlantean Warrior #2 Stats:
Weight: 6 lbs, 7 oz
Overall Length: 38 inches
Blade Length: 27 & 3/8 inches
Grip Length: 4 & 9/16 inches, leather cord wrapped
Distal Taper: .24 inch from guard to where fuller ends, tapering off to point
Point of Balance: 2 inches from guard
Center of percussion: aproximately 7 & 1/2 inches from point
I don’t really know why this sword weighs two and a half ounces less than Number 1. Still a beast, certainly, but I can swing this one with one hand. Maybe not for long… hahahaha and its work... the sword certainly responds with more authority two handed. I’ll be looking forward to hearing Chris’s impressions when he receives it.
and since we all agree, no pics = it didn’t happen....I’m going to go out on a limb now and hazard the opinion that, having completed two Warriors... I might be starting to figure this thing out... each procedure is much less a learning process ( although there will likely still be plenty of that...) and I can move ahead with more confidence and, hopefully, efficiency. No promises of vastly quicker results - but I’m hopefull. Now - On to Number 3!!!

Thank You Dave! You know I still carry that cutting vid you posted around on my phone, just to force innocent bystanders to hear and marvel at the way you made that blade sing!!!
Thanks again, Rob! For the good words and for working with me on this long, long path!!!
Thank You A-R! Thats a real compliment for sure! Which one?
And again - Thank You to all of you who've stuck with me through all of this extended-play saga!!! They say patience is a virtue… so on a good day, at least I've got one… hahahahaha and you all are certainly a damn virtuous crew, in that one aspect, at least!!!
