So last Friday I got almost all the casting defects and detail work cleaned up. End of day found a couple of welds still to chase out. So this Friday I'll knock them out and start laying out the hieroglyphs on the blade. Oh boy, do I remember doing that carving out/engraving on Dave's sword…
Definitely will be photos from next Friday's session!

Proceeding on the assumption that any news is better than no news... Friday was not as productive a day as I had hoped for. I was planning to get deep into the engraving, but I had forgotten how much preparation was going to be necessary on the one side. Pretty deep milling marks to be removed. Fair amount of hand sanding, which just takes time... But, as you can see, I did get far enough along to lay out the design and begin chewing into steel. Chris wants this sword as close as possible to the original movie sword, so its the same hieroglyphs that went onto Dave’s blade. This coming Friday will see a lot more steel gone. laying out the hieroglyphs design transferred and carving has commenced its a start. There'll be a lot more steel dust come next Friday!

Love the clean look of the parts in the backgroud John! Man, hand carved runes, the owners of these are so spoilt by you - it's going to look great. Thanks for the update mate.

Been kind of tied up with pre-holiday errands etc. with no end in sight (well, actually the 25th will close it out…) No appreciable progress since last report, but immediately after the holidays look for some results.

Thank You Sean! Truly, eventually your patience will be rewarded!!! You're up for blade #6. This is without doubt the most massive of the bunch. Blade # 6 ThankYou Dave! The one I'm working on now is for Chris from Ronin Katana. Grip is going to be just like yours, wrapped tan leather cord. Thank You Edward! I'll try to keep the photos coming!

Thank You WeWolf! My carvings are far from perfect, but lets say they've got "character", eh?… hahahaha
You bet Rob - It probably sounds corny, but as the sword gets closer to completion, I get more and more excited about it. For so much of the process its just a lot of work and fixing stuff and etc, etc… But when it starts to actually be a sword then its Wooo Hoooo! Cause these brutes really are still about the baddest-ass grandaddy of all fantasy swords ever!!!

Hey Gang, here’s another note from under the mounds of bronze dust at Castle Greybeard. Not anything to show you right now, but I need to let you all in on where I’m at... I’ve been working on the third Fountain of Doom, and here is where it stands - So I’ve obligated myself to having that 320 lbs of bronze, in 6 pieces, whipped into this - in the next two weeks and four days. Thats right, I’ve got to deliver the finished fountain on -- April Fools Day. Who says the universe doesn’t have a sense a yuma, eh? So the corollary “good news” is that upon delivery of said Doom Fountain, I will have 100% time available to finish the next Warrior. Which, given total focus on that, should happen PDQ. I’m just going to be buried even deeper in the bronze dust til the end of the month, so please bear with me til then. And as always, Many Thanks to you all, for the patience and ongoing support!
