Ed and everyone - John and I just had a big transcontinental catchup phone call. While there is not a lot of progress to report, we are both 100% wanting to get these done.
John is hoping to get all the waxes cleaned up and coated up with slurry ready to turn into bronze at the same time. Takes between 7-15 coats each so it's not a fast process. This will mean 4 sets will be ready for cleaning and fitting (the hardest part!) At the moment, once John can get this rolling, we are looking at a month or more till they are cast, and then fitting out one at a time.
We are both hoping to continue to update with pic's whenever possible, and thankyou for sticking in there and a happy new year to you all!

Good to hear! *Any news* is good, even if it's just an update on what part of the process is going on.
Hope to hear from you guys in a month?

Really nothing new to report on just right now. Fountain is still taking much longer than anticipated, and the fountain clients are putting me under some considerable pressure to get it done. Which is happening, but its just not done yet. Since the fountain is paying my bills, I pretty much have to stay at it. I will be seeing a window soon between getting all the clay done, the molds getting done, and the metal poured. When that window opens, I'll be able to put some work in on our project, and I promise I'll get results posted here ASAP!

So its a month later and the fountain’s still not finished. The clients have laid down an “inviolable” deadline (which means I get sued if I don’t deliver... and even worse - don’t get paid) of 3rd week in April. Have to have it in for some freaking garden tours or something.
With that looming, the foundry tells me they can’t even start the next step until the second week of April. But they’ll let me come in and do it myself with their equipment... So much for the above mentioned “window”...
All of which means I am going to be eating a lot of vitamins, drinking a lot of coffee and be ass over teacups in rubber, sand molds and bronze for every possible available moment between now and the 3rd damn week of freaking April.
Thats the bad news.
The good news is that upon delivery of this delightful fountain, guess what I thereafter will have nothing else to do other than? Thats right - Project Conan will assume its rightful place as the center of my creative universe. You will see progress again! There will be blood! The heavens will shudder, and swords will be finished!!!

...and then we shall shed the blood of our foes with our Conan swords, fill this fountain with the blood of our enemies... who have been driven before us while we heard the lamentation of their women.

I got to have a good chat to John on the weekend. I think the best part is his health is on the up (as long as you dont overdo it these next couple weeks John - !)
We are both keen to have these progress regularly again, once the "fountain of doom" is completed.
Cheers all - thanks again for sticking it out folks.

Got the fountain deadline pushed back a little- and then the foundry ran out of resin to make sand molds with... sheesh... Half the metal will get poured this Monday, other half can't get poured til new resin arrives next week and I finish the sand molds. Then theres the welding and metal finish work.
I'm anticipating starting back up on the Warriors first week of May.
There will be photos! nothing you haven't seen before, but it will be good to see the next blades taking shape, eh?

"I'm anticipating starting back up on the Warriors first week of May." errrrr... hmmmm... OK, newsflash - fountain's still not done. But the finish line's only a couple of days off - truly! Here's a shot of the water test (it worked!) also thought I'd share a shot of the 200 lb bronze shield that will be available to accompany the Atlantean Warriors yeah, probably only the guv'ner (in his prime) could wield the beast... (the sharper-eyed amongst us will note the chain hoist assisting me... hahahahaha) so hang in there with me a little longer, eh? Big Thanks!
