Last I spoke here, I had outlined my plan to concentrate on getting all the bronze parts cast for the project before I went on to finishing swords. That involves preparing more waxes, which is mostly what I’ve been doing. I took note of almost everybody’s desire to keep from any extraordinary manovers to reduce weight. But as I was working again on the wax parts, some areas just jumped out at me that could be worked with to reduce unnecessary weight, with no sacrifice in strength or change in design. So I’ve been doing that. Here’s the next to last set all sprued and vented and almost ready to go to be dipped for the ceramic shell mold. More to come!

Hey guys - an update on a kind of scheduling crisis that I’m having to deal with… so this post is advising about that and is also a request for some input from you.
As we speak, castle greybeard is valiantly withstanding a serious assault by the taxman - 2016 real estate tax, the big one - and the dungeon coffers are spewing nothing but cobwebs and dustbunnys. Yes, the situation is relatively desperate. To the point that I see no other option than to sell off some of my personal collection. Aaarrrrgggghhh!!!!
Now said collection pieces are presently - you’re not going to believe this, I know - not all quite finished…. I’m talking about a H/T fullered bastard sword, a H/T GSoW and a H/T Viking sword. Of course these have all received the Greybeard bronzification hilt treatment, with a couple of Mike Jia’s earliest designed guards and pommels of my own making ( again, in various stages of almost completion…)
The bastard and the GSoW have the H/T pommel nut assembly and the Viking is peened. As I finish them I could either keep the nut job or peen the bastard and GS… naturally, I lean toward peening them, since I can’t imagine anybody ever wanting to take apart a Greybeard sword… cough, cough…. but in the interest of moving the merchandise, er, I mean provide the best possible product, I’d be willing to accommodate. So what do you think?
I’ll be posting a separate offer of these swords here and on the FB page,as soon as I have some pics to tease you all with. Which will be soon because I don’t want to abandon these cold dark halls to the tax hoards just yet…
This is all pushing back my work on the Warriors a bit, but its just semprini unavoidable. Thanks for understanding.

Hey guys - well, I don't suppose it'll be any comfort to know that my progress on my H/T swords hasn't been a whole lot faster than the work on the Warriors. Good news is that I should be wrapping up "the Hammer", my GSoW, which has been purchased, this coming week. Then on to the bastard... or the Viking... I'm not sure.
Rob and I will be discussing some ways to get the Warriors rolling more efficiently and expeditiously. Of course I know this is a ridiculous time frame. Labor of love... what can I say?

Once again, I’m sorry for taking longer than I should to post ( “so stop being sorry - just don’t do it ever again!” …” ok, ok, you’re right”… sounds a lot like my first marriage… and we all know how that worked out… hahahaha) I’ve been working like crazy on finishing the Hammer, my GSoW, so I can get it to its new owner - and that’ll be one down towards the real estate tax - huzzah! Two to go - next up; my fullered Bastard Sword. Since its not exactly totally finished, I’m offering it in one of two versions at the choice of the buyer - details will be in a new post specific to this “The Taxman Cometh” Sale of some of my personal collection. long sad sigh…. To your question Edward. Rob and I are talking with the infamous Lonely Wolf, Wes Beem, about his taking on the steel finishing (maybe more) for the remaining Warriors so I can concentrate on finishing the bronzes. For those who don’t know - Wes is like the Tasmanian Devil on a piece of steel - a cloud of flying grey dust with astounding blades falling out all about. So though I can’t give you a definite timeline just yet, I will assure you that things are about to start moving a lot faster than ever! And of course, there will be pics!

Thanks Sean - I'll pass that on to the Wolfman, but you know how he is.... hey, if I can't get a good translation of "Johnson" into the Atlantean runes, would a pictograph do? would fit real good into that space on the ricasso.....

John,
Thanks for the info! Any progress is good to hear about; I really hope those other swords sell, so you can get your taxes in order.
Thank you for the updates and the picture; always looking forward to further updates, not to mention the project's completion. :-)

Thanks John - apoligies for not being around of late as well. Yes with a bit of help we are hoping to get on with it Ed! Seems like the best solution as bronze is what ol greybeard does best...
Also a side note - I've probably said it before - but if anyone has a deposit down on one of these and no longer wants to wait it out - then let me know and I'll get you that money back asap!
Kind regards,
rob
