Heh, if any one read my threads on the old boards, you'll remember that I was drooling over it and wanted it bad. Well, I have it! I should have pictures up tonight or tomorrow as my wife currently has the camera in her purse at class. Yeah, I had to call in early Christmas present money and blow all my fun money for a month or two, but it was totally worth it. This sword is awesome! It is truly a work of art, and I'm sure that it performs awesome, what with being a Angus Trim/Christian Fletcher Prestige line sword. The handling is incredible for what I can tell anyway, as I am still pretty new to this. It does feel incredible though, like and extension of my arms. As for preserving it, I have ren wax, remington gun oil, and wd-40. What do you guys think I should use? Christian himself recommended the ren wax for the sake of the leather. What do you guys think?

That is one of the best Christmas presents, early or not, I've ever heard of. Congrats, man. I've been drooling over it myself, so I'll look forward to the pics.

Pictures, man! Give us pictures! Purses be damned! Congratulations! I think it's well established that I'm a fan of these swords Happy to here you love it so! As for your listed preservatives, WD-40 is fine for cleaning gunk off after cutting something, but it's not much for protecting a sword. I've had no troubles with remington 3-in-one oil, I've used it on most of my swords (Borderwatch included). Ren wax is good for storing blades long term, but it's pretty labor intensive if you plan to use or handle the sword with any frequency, and you have to make sure you don't trap any debris under the wax or it can corrode away unchecked. I'd recommend an oil instead, but as Christian said, wax would be good for preserving that beautiful grip. I'm certainly jealous of the tapered grip on the current incarnation of the Borderwatch...but since I prefer the blade-to-hilt ratio of my Albion version I won't whine too loudly Congrats again. I can't wait to see pictures!

Thanks Lunaman! I plan on having the pics up tonight, won't be till late though, as my wife doesn't get back from class till about 9. Yeah, I think I'll use my rem oil on the blade and the ren wax on the leather. I ended up getting the green version, as getting the blue would cost extra and I actually think this sword looks better green. I'm thinking of trying my hand at reviewing it, although I'm still not overly knowledgeable on swords and my review probably won't be that great, haha. As it stands, I'll have nothing but praise for it so far, it's incredible!

Sounds great! No matter how knowledgeable you consider yourself, I'm sure lots of us would love to hear your impressions of your new beauty in addition to the pictures. (But seriously. Pictures. LOL) Did you get a scabbard as well? I think that's the next step for mine--getting a new scabbard. I like the scabbard it has, but I think something that 'pops' a bit more would be more fitting..

She's a beauty! And you look very pleased. Flash photography is usually unflattering to swords, but that sword looks quite superb in any light. Do you think you could ever grab some outdoor pics? Swords do marvelous things with indirect sunlight, and I bet this one would be a knockout. I love the green, the risers, the darkened fittings...Mmmm. Congrats again!!

Sure thing, I'll get some outdoor pics for sure! And thanks again! Yeah, I'm super happy with the color, it just looks awesome. I think I will try to do a review in a few days or so. So, what type of scabbard did you have in mind for yours Lunaman?

Nice! I really like that scabbard you want! Is that your Borderwatch in the pic?

Yes it is. With a blade of different dimensions (from Albion) and a different pommel than yours.

Nice sword! I love the colour choice! As far as I know this is just a myth, it might come from somebody wrongly interpreting the name "water displacement, 40th attempt" or from the fact that it contains hydrogen atoms in some of the ingredient's molecules but apparently they have made sure that those hydrogen atoms can't 'bond' with oxygen atoms and form water. Here's were I found this info: www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/17-05/st_whatsinside
